Sort of.

I learned to crochet the other day and I decided to make myself a troll (vitterfolk). Then I made him tiny clothes. I'm rather proud of the buckle.

Everything on him is handmade apart from the black goggly bits and the metal surrounds for them (they came off a pair of earrings), the eyelet which you can't see on the back of his goggles and the chain for the watch which came off a brooch (although I did make the curly bits fom a reel of thin wire). He is almost entirely recycled too. The only things purpose bought were the poppers on his hat and the yarn for his body.

Nothing monumental, just wanted to share. His name is Yaki no-Eyes, since nowhere near me sells doll eyes, beads don't work and last time I tried to embroider some, they failed.

EDIT: He now has another belt, a cravat and a pocket watch:

There's an article on Wikipedia about steampunk here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk) and there's a handy thread which might offer a better explanation on Gaiaonline over here (http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/fashion-style/the-official-steampunk-fashion-thread-image-heavy/t.26808127_1/).

It's basically a sort of punk variant, with emphasis on self-made clothes and unusual applications or combinations of garments, from the Victorian era going, I think, up to a mid-point between the wars. There are other terms for those later periods, Bakelitepunk and Dieselpunk for example, but they tend to fall under the umbrella of steampunk. It is also sometimes known as 'Neo-Victorian' style.

The essential theme of the style is creating today's technology with yesterday's equipment, styles and materials. People have MP3 players embedded in fantastic brass and glass cases, or laptops which appear to be clockwork and brass (Datamancer's Steampunk Laptop (http://www.datamancer.net/steampunklaptop/steampunklaptop.htm) is one of the most famous examples.) The technology inside is the same as it ever was but the outer appearance is of something anachronistic.

The motif of the engineer or the explorer is often used and goggles are practically a must-have.
