One thing that I have used for years to destress my jeans is my Dremel tool.

You can pick one up at the hardware section of your local Wal-Mart for about $17.oo
I have a sanding bit that I se for destressing.

Using that bit you can do almost all of your distressing very quickly. Its definately worth it.
Heres an example of a pocket on a pair of jeans-

Remember when distressing, its a good idea to sew through it so the distressed area wont grow(unless thats what you want :))

Have fun!

Personally, I just use a razor blade and sandpaper. I've also heard that two pebbles works.

I was just going to post a distressing technique I used yesterday. I tied my jeans to the back of my jeep and took them for a drag. Now the funny part is that I did this in my general neighborhood.
about a block away is a small park. As soon as the kids saw I was dragging a pair of jeans... well it might as well have been a parade float.
For half a block they were chasing me yelling hey that guy ha jeans tied to his car. i died laughing at the situation. Later I drove back by just to laugh some more.
This time I hear "hey its that guy again... hey.. hey.. hey.. its that guy again!!" mob of small kids chasing my jeep at low speed 20-25mph.
I was still laughing by the time I got home.
