Midnight Masquerade (PICTURE HEAVY!!!)

Yeah so I was going to go to MetroCon but a mere few hours before we were supposed to leave, a member of our group kinda screwed us over because she didn't have the money and she didn't even bother to tell us. She was paying for the gas and van rental so without those things, we had no other way of going. So instead of moping around the house like I kinda felt like doing, the rest of my MetroCon group and one other person that wasn't going with us decided to dress up in our masquerade outfits anyway and take piccies.

Well you're prolly like, "What the hell does this have to do with finished projects?" Well I'll tell you. We each made our outfits in some shape or form. Mine was the only one made completely from scratch but that sure as hell doesn't mean it was the only awesome one. Everyone worked so hard on their outfits and I'm sure we would have looked kick ass at the ball.

Okay first off. This was the original design sketch for my outfit. I DID NOT DRAW THIS!!! The girl in the red wig in the pics did. I just made the dress following the sketch.

I altered a Simplicity pattern because it had the basic shape I wanted. I can't remember the pattern number. I haven't added the lace sleeves on the side yet but I will in time to wear this to AWA in September.

Yeah... not the best pic in the world but it shows the bodice detail kinda good. I covered the front panel in the same lace as the overskirt.

We did have masks on to begin with but it got REALLY hot REALLY fast and we figured since we weren't at the dance where we would have to keep the masks on, we'd just take them off and do pics without them.

I'm sorry the one friend flaked, that sucks. She should really have fessed up that she couldn't swing the money, so you could plan ahead. Sheesh.

Yep, everything I have been hearing was pretty bad, 3 hour delays for the raves, horrible guest DJs on top of that. Also there was a Red bull event outside on Sat, the guest for that were falling down drunk, sexually harassing Metro con attendees, stealing , yelling and calling names. No good news for the fantasy masque either, had a friend go, and she said it was so dark, and so loud that you couldn't see or hear the person standing next to you.

Sounds like it was a pretty bad year, I've been before, and never heard of it being this bad, its normally a pretty good convention.
