Made out of "swimwear fabric" (I only remember polyester, not the rest)

It took 3 hours;
2 hours trying to make it look like a dress my friend wants me to make hers and then taking it apart (too big, didn't look good, etc)
1 hour to make THIS particular dress

When a friend asks me to make em something that I've never made before, I MUST make one for myself so there won't be any mistakes!
Sadly, this is NOT how she wants hers, but hopefully, I learned enough about stretchy fabric and everything...

The straps in the middle make the dress adjustable;
It hooks around to the back and comes back to the middle, so it looks the same in the back
The back is just plain, no rouching/shirring(?)
I CAN wear it backwards if I want the plain side in the front!

Really cute! I would love a tutorial for this - stretchy fabric is really difficult to sew!

*applause* That looks really great! I like the adjustable ruching, nice touch. And at least you got practice for sewing that kind of dress in that fabric.

You could probably wear it over jeans or leggings, too, if you really use the ruched part to hike it up to tunic length, where the bottom would hit your low hip.

Yup, totally up for layering =]
But I call it my "clubbing dress"
Even though I can't or probably wouldn't go clubbing..

I have no tips for stretchy material...
I dunno what I did, but whatever it was, it worked..

Well, actually, I kinda just pulled on the fabric that was already sewn, so it won't bunch under the needle...
Dunno if that's good or not, but that's what I did...

Hmmm....not something I'd wear but it's still cute. Really compliments your hour glass shape. :D
