2 Dresses, knitting case, plush, & clutch

Hey everyone,

WARNING: SOME OF THESE IMAGES ARE HUGE. SORRY!

I usually lurk ThreadBanger on YouTube, but I've been meaning to hop on over to the forums [& actually POST] to get myself in gear.

ITEM ONE:
It found an ugly dress that reminded me of what kindergarten teachers in the early 90's wore at the thrift store. You know...thick strapped, high neckline, long skirt, & HUGE! I couldn't pass up the adorable summery material though...especially not when it's two bucks. Anyway, after some pinning & experimenting on my dress-form, I came out with a dress I'm quite happy with. It was a smash at my housewarming party!

^Front. & lol@the Orange Bird [which is my change bank] over my head. Chicago has been absolutely ridiculous with weather lately & leaves me looking like a troll.

^That's the back. It has some elastic holding it up paired with a cute little tie across the top for an extra detail [& to help hold it up haha].


ITEM TWO:
I made a case to hole my set of knitting needles when I moved 'cause I had to abandon half of the stash with my grandma. I was inspired by using a bamboo mat to roll my paintbrushes up for transit & just made a prettier one out of canvas.

ITEM THREE:
My mom has eclectic taste, so I usually make her something weird for gifts when needed. I made her this weird plush on the fly for Mother's Day.

ITEM FOUR:
A friend of mine bought some material that matched scraps from an old dress she had & asked me to make a new dress out of it. It turned out fantastically!

ITEM FIVE:
I'm absolutely in love with this little clutch I made from all old scraps of thrift store clothes. It has an octopus with a mustache. And a funky orange zipper.

Honestly, it wasn't difficult enough to make a tutorial. I just took her measurements, drew out my design, & separated it into puzzle pieces [sleeves, bust, waist, skirt - all front & back].

You just surge the pieces together [wrong sides together, of course] so you end up with a front panel & a back panel. Sew the sleeves in at the top, but not down what becomes the underarm seam. Put the wrong sides of your front & back dress panels together, & stitch up from the bottom to the armpit & out to the end of the sleeve in one shot.

It really wasn't difficult, I swear. I threw it together in under an hour [after I figured out the size & shape of my components] including pressing my seams down. :)
