:confused:I was reading on yahoo news that people who wear flip flops get really bad feet problems. Since they have to work hard with holding the flip flop on their foot. I only have one pair and its not like the thong kind.
Is this just another thing to scare us???

What do you guys think?

I don't know about "really bad" foot problems, but it does cause muscle tension, which can make you tense your knees and lower back! No arch support though so maybe problems could happen down the road.

If I wear some of my flops for too long, I can feel a burning pain in my left foot actually. I just switch to sandals or reg shoes for a couple of days...

And I always avoid long walks with flip flops too

My dearest wifey loves her flipflops. But she's got hundreds (slight exaggeration) of other shoes, and almost never wears the same pair twice in a week. So she should be ok.

But just like almost everything in life, moderation and variety will get you through.

I wear my thongs (I somtimes call them pluggers, but never flip-flops) occasionally. They're only for going to the beach or when I'm too lazy to find other shoes.

Adam Hills can't wear thongs, he has a prosthetic foot.

I wear my flip flops (thongs) and never feel any pain. They're the most comfortable shoes I have. I wore a pair to Disney World the day before yesterday and walked like crazy for twelve hours, and didn't feel pain. So I dunno what on Earth you guys are talking about.

Everything is bad for you. Absolutely everything.

In reality; all things in moderation and I too love my flip flops but I don't wear them everyday. I don't wear them if I am going to do too much walking they make my legs tired and don't have enough support for an all day trek.

Like me, If you wear them to much they make your feet hurt. The are just a flat and thilny padded board. Thats are. No support DX

It all depends on how your feet are shaped, and what you are use to. I'm from Florida, and I wear flip flops almost everyday, year round. I've never had any problems / pain from them .

I really think it varies from person to person, and also depends on the flip flops.

I know that I wear flips flops every chance I get, but I also have a few different pairs of flips flops. I have yet to have any problems with my feet from my flip flops. I even have a pair of flip flops (Columbia brand that I got really cheap at an outlet mall) that are super comfy when going on walks.

now I think he's got me confused with our house guest....cause I only own one pair of shoes that MIGHT be flipflops...they're more of a sandle cause the thong attaches almost at the heel and not up by the toes and they have arch support and a 2 inch heel......and I hate the common flipflop...my clothes are not casual for flipflops (unless I"m preg and my feet swell) but I don h ave about 30/40ish pairs of shoes....mmm shoes....and they are all high heeled so I"m screwed anyway as far as my shoes being bad for my feet later in life...but I'm 5'1" so if I don't want to look like I'm 13 I wear tall shoes

I have the most amazingly comfy green and yeallow Ramones (presidential seal) flip flops that I've worn for two years. They're sort of a rubbery foam, they bend, so it's not like a thick foam board hitting the soles of your feet like most pairs I've tried. They are super comfy, though I am wearing two big holes in the bottoms.

I don't think it's even remotely possible for anyone to think you look 13 dearest. For one you're always surrounded by 3 kids... for two... you don't look 13? And I'm pretty sure you've worn flip flops... maybe in japan?

I took the liberty of emphasizing your minimalization of your shoes... (I'm gonna put a picture on here one day of your shoe closet)

I wore flip flops every time you've knocked me up!! cause I'll fall off my cute shoes when my balance is off from a big belly!!! LOL but yeah I have worn them...but like you said in your first post I don't usually wear the same pair of shoes more than 2 times a week...less if I can help it....and NEVER the same pair in 2 days in a row (good shoe health so that they can air out and bacteria and stuff is less likely to grow in them)
and this is why husband's shouldn't be on sites with their wives....cause they always think that you have too many shoes!!!

Well, I live in California, so I'm wearing flip flops literally 80% (or more) of the time.

It's just kinda how SoCal is.

I've never heard of anyone having serious foot problems, but maybe I'm just uninformed.

Down here, though, Reef's are the things so get. Reef flip flops are so comfortable. I absolutely love mine. They also make some styles hat have arch supports.

Rainbow's are also a very popular high end flip flops brand.

I think that if one wore cheep $2 flip flops everyday of their lives they might get some funky flat foot, but whatever.

My feet never hurt from mine.

I guess if you live someplace that doesn't sell decent to good flips flips then you might be outa luck.

I love the coast ^^

I get lots of pain in my feet and legs if I walk to far with flip flops, I also fell down at the store the other day because I steped in some water and lost what little flip flop traction I had. :/ all and all I still wear them to death in fact I have a pair that's held up for 3 years O.O

I bought a black flip-flop a fortnight ago, and not wearing it for a while... it creates a small patch of wound on my each foot~ owch, never had it that bad before~~~ *strokes scabs*

But I need to wear them! It's summertime! And my feet needs to breathe and sweat less!

Not really, it's a bit like walking in high heels, except the back heel is only about halfway back...

Oh, and walking up and down stairs is a bitch.

That's not true.

I've heard of some people say they get back problems from Crocs and Flip flops. I myself wear flip flops ALL the time, taking them off pretty often to go barefoot, and I'm fine. I hate sneakers unless I'm walking in the woods or during the winter.

I can imagine theres some sort of strain on foot muscles but not enough to give a serious issue. I grew up in Miami where everyone wheres some sort of sandal and I can assure you I've never met one person with a foot or spinal issue.

I used to have a pair of geta when I was 10, cuz it's cool to wear one (gah, I blame the media for exposing eccentric Japanese fashion). I suffered from discomfort for wearing geta, and I don't want to wear them anymore.

The real reason why flip flops are supposed to give you cancer is because most people wear them, but don't put sunscreen on their feet. So the feet get sunburned, and people get skin cancer on their feet. So, if you wear them, do the tops of your feet with sunscreen.

Extensive usage of flip flops will screw up the arch of your foot. Being that theres no support, it will cause your arch to go flater. Which the arch of your foot is vital for a healthy back and balance.
Although, this is normally for people who wear mainly flip flops for an extreme amount of time.
Thats what I heard

I'm born and raised in Hawaii and all the locals here wear slippers (that's what we call em. if you were to call them flip flops here people would be offended hahah). We were them ALL the time. Oh well.
