So, I've been dying to make (or buy! but I'm broke) some plaid jeans since I've seen this kiddo wearing some, a while ago. My dad gave me his old PJ pants for fabric about a week and a half ago, and I freaked out and cut em up right away. :D The zipper's from an old pair of jeans that are beyond salvation, because they're covered in green paint. :P
I pretty much love these pants.

In this pic the colors aren't as washed out by the flash (ick! I hate flash photography!):

I made this hoodie last October (not for halloween!) from a striped shirt my friend gave me, with a really akward neckline. I tried making a vest from a threadbanger tutorial, but realized it needed a zipper, then decided to make a hoodie. :D I used a few tutorials and guessed on a lot of stuff. This is the first thing I've made that I actually wear on a regular basis (usually with a black tshirt... all mine were in the wash, though, so I clash :p). It was made all out of t-shirts and a zipper from Jo-Ann's.
Oh, and those shorts were just some I made about a year ago out of old jeans, and I wanted to try 'em on to see if they still fit... then I got too lazy to change out of them. :P Nothing really exciting though.

Awesome hoodie! Soo awesome I really want it. And the pants too, I've been gawking at pants like those at hottopic for a while. How'd you make them, they look super comfy. And really cute, of course.

I want your pants.
Or at least a pant tutorial. ^^ I have a pair of plaid pants already, but not skinny ones. They have a zipper at the back of the lower leg, so I can't shove em into my boots, which is unfortunate.

So tute, plz?

Thanks guys! I can try making a tutorial for the pants, but I need to get fabric first... which will take a while as I'm broke right now. :P

I took a pair of old pants and lined the leg part up on the fabric and used that as a guide, pinned it and tried it on, and moved the pins around 'til one leg fit right, then sewed it and used that one as a pattern for the other leg... I'll try to make a tutorial 'cause apparantly everyone wants me to. :p
And it wasn't that hard... I'm not THAT great at sewing, and plus if you really aren't that great at sewing, you'll get better... it takes practice. :)

Hehe, I actually wrote my name (Hollyly... my first names Holly, and my middle name's Leigh, so it makes sense, y'know?) on it, but the flash made it look plain.

Ok now I really want to make me a hoody....but I'd have to do it the ol' fashioned way cuz......our family hasn't a sewing machine T_T
I actually made that hoodie handsewn! Then I learned how to use my sewing machine... But I still handsew most of the things I make. Hehe, so go for it!

And to everyone, thanks! I'll try to make a tutorial as soon as I can get my hands on some money... which will be a while, but I promise I'll try to make one!

i love your hoodie and its making me want a stripey one too ^_^ i have evil where's waldo fabric somewhere around here. i tried attempting my first sewing recon with cheapasscheap walmart tees but the fabric is too thin i think. :( but i ended up with a sort of nicely fitted tee (kind of tight in the boobage) that can be stenciled, yay.i know you said you used tees but were they normal or those super-duper-ultra thin tees?i need lots of help...i'm sewing challenged.

I know there are tutorials for making hoodies out of shirts and pants out of pants...but what about a hoody from pants ( I have a TON of PJ bottoms with cool patterns that I would love to make into a hoodie but am really scared of ruining them)

Well, the striped tee was a normal stretchy girls tee, and the black was from two normal mens tees, probably the same thickness as a mens band shirt you could buy at hot topic or a concert.
I don't think super thin tees would work for hoodies. Try normal tees for it.
And post pics if you do make one!

Well, I've never tried it, but I think if there's enough fabric that'll go halfway around your torso, without a random seam going through the middle of it, they might work. Then again, it matters how big the pj's are compared to the width of your torso, but you might not have enough fabric for the sleeves or hood, so you might want to find some extra fabric beforehand that will go well with the pj fabric. You could rip apart the seams, then cut out a pattern (nothing too tight on you as a lot of pjs don't really stretch) for the top, sew that, then make sleeves and a hood, and cut the middle front part in half and put a zipper there, and add some front pockets. Try it with some pj pants you don't really like that much to see if it works, and then if you like the results make some more. :)

And, thanks everyone for the nice comments!! :D

Those pants are very shiny.

(except not at all...because the fabric is not actually shiny. "Shiny" is just the first positive adjective that poppped into my head, and I couldn't really change it because in my world it sounds appropriate.)

hehe ever watched Firefly?

The pants are very cool. But won't they tear eventually? I tried to make some fitted pants out of pj pants, and the crotch ripped very easily, cause flannel is a loose knit. Are these cotton? Well...not that that's much better. Just wondering.

Yeah, they might. I don't exactly know what it's made out of, I don't remember even seeing a tag on them. I'm thinking of making some more pants out of some checkerboard print, and I'm making sure to find some thicker stretchy fabric to put on the sides... It looks better than it sounds. (I drew it out, haha)
But, hey, they're cool in the meantime. :P

Well, I did that on the sides, then I had to pinch and pin the back and add a zipper in, add a waistband, and put a button on.
