Yup, you've guessed it - I've made another dress shirt. I used the Jakob pattern from Burdastyle.com except this time, I found a tutorial on how to make a professional looking sleeve placket and I followed it to give the shirt a more dressy look. I've yet to add a pocket since I am trying to find a different pocket style than the one that comes with the Burdastyle pattern so just imagine a cooler looking pocket. Hope you like.

It looks really professional, you did great! I like the fabric, and you did an amazing job keeping the stripes nice and straight. I also like the walls, they're really cool.

I'm sure you've gotten this a lot since you've been here, but it's refreshing to see a guy no afraid to admit he sews. Or makes things in general, really. =]

The shirt looks really nice - and the placket does give it a professional feel. Great job!

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It's good to see that all my hard work went noticed. It was tough keeping all the lines straight and the fabric is thicker than normal but it fits really well and I'm impressed with the outcome.

It looks very professional, and I love the stripes. I wish I could make something like that, but I am afraid of patterns.

The smallest size is a 48 I believe? But it's definitely too big for me so I had to resize a lot of the pattern.. which isn't hard, just tricky. Grab a measuring tape and remake the collar (for starters, since other people using the Jakob pattern said the collar came out too big and looked bad). It's just a matter of bringing in the shoulders, the sides of the body and making the arms skinnier.. those are the only other things I altered.

How do I pick the fabric? I usually just think of other shirts I've seen before. I want a ton of dress shirts I can wear on a nice day chilling on a patio somewhere with my friends - so you don't want it to be too heavy. It's also a good thing to find the bargain section and start from there. I've made a dress shirt that cost me about $4.oo using all new materials before.

I can make a dress shirt in an afternoon but this one took a while because I forgot to buy buttons and then just threw it together at different times. Thanks for the compliments.

Very nice work. I like how you centered the heavy black lines. The shirt looks good without a pocket, but I'm sure it will look good with one too as long as the pocket stripes are lined up.
