Project: Peter Pan
For: Fairy Tale Day at my son's elementary school
Pattern Base: Misc. sources. Leggings were traced from a pair of PJ pants, the shoes were adapted from a Simplicity pattern that was too small, the hat was from the same Simplicity pattern, the tunic was traced from an old button-down shirt, the pouch was a last minute folded/sewn piece of felt.
Modifications: resizing, made the hat double thickness for durability, added toe holds to the shoes to secure onto the shoes better.
Difficulty: Time crunch, machine kindof broke. I was going to try to crank out Belle too, but it didn't happen in time. I'll still make the dress, which will give me the opportunity to show how to do a DIY hoop skirt (WOOT!).
Materials: 3/4yd green jersy knit ($2/yd from JoAnn's), brown and green felt, rayon/polyester(?) upholstery fabric ($2/5-yard roll from a thrift store!).
Process Highlights: I think my Kenmore (7ish years old) had timing problems. Great excuse to buy a newer one!
Outcome: Not too shabby, though I think he looks a bit too much like one of Santa's helpers. I did get some progressive pictures of the construction of th leggings that I'll be adding to the tut I made here --> http://forum.threadbanger.com/showthread.php?t=6171
