Finally! After 2 weeks of slaving night and day, here, my friends is my perfect Prom Dress.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v43/Stylish_Modesty/front.jpg

This took 5 1/2 yards of black satin
3 yards of lime green stretchy satin
5 yards terribly hard to sew rhinestone-encrusted sheer black fabric
6 yards of black lining
6 yards of thick netting
2 yards black interfacing
roll of stitch witchery
lots of boning...just lots
2 spools of black thread
one spool lime green thread
bottle of black seed beads
2 rhinestone encrusted buttons
3 black jewels (purse not seen)

There are two layers of thick netting under the dress. Every seam of the lining and dress was stitched with small stitches then overcasted. The overlay has entirely french seams (difficult to do when you technically can't iron the fabric...the glitter/rhinstones kept melting). The stripes on the bust have rows of hand beading on them. I'll get a better picture of that later.

Halfway through the hem I realized I had never actually hemmed anything before.

Closeup of the neck and earrings my mom and I designed. I ended up not having the time to make it myself, so my mom did it for me. T'was her first time making jewelry!

Wow, guys! that is a lot of responses. Thank you so much!

As for the pattern, I just used Simplicity 5207. Everything else was drafted myself. I used the pattern for the black dress.

Yaaay! You did it! Your mom's necklace is great, too.

For future reference, when sewing glittery, sequin, or blinged-out fabric, remove the bling and stuff from the area where you're going to sew. Sequins really break needles.

I'm amazed by everyone doing their prom dresses. I wish I could have done it.
