I'm getting really good at constructing these dress shirts. I found this fabric on sale for $1.39 a yard (and I would have paid more for it because I love it!). There was a stain on the fabric about every yard so she cut my another yard that wasn't stained so I could get all the pieces I needed out of it just incase I didn't have enough.
So yea, it's a lightweight printed cotton - molecules I guess you could call it.. that's what I call it ! I used the Jakob pattern from BurdaStyle. Hope you like it.

I also bought a slightly more expensive fabric - it's a cotton/spandex blend but it'll be a more formal dress shirt (which I plan to start tomorrow because I'm not working this week). Keep an eye out for that one because I should have it finished soon - oh, maybe not, I have no more buttons. haha BACK TO THE FABRIC STORE !!!

Great shirt! I love the molecules, but I'd need a closer look to figure out what exactly it is...
And you're really cute on the third pic, your avatar is doing you no justice at all!!!

Up close it's just like a scattered grid of little what looks like molecules - hahah I don't know how else to describe it ! You ge tthe idea though.

Excellent shirt! Was it difficult? I've never attempted anything with a collar before.

Excellent shirt! Was it difficult? I've never attempted anything with a collar before.
It's my second dress shirt and I can already do it without instructions. Once you know how the collar is put together it's really not that hard. If you're good with directions and patterns you'll be fine. If not, I think Burda has a how-to for making a collar.

hahaha Everyone mentions the wall - I keep forgetting they're not the typical wall for a bedroom.. I guess I'm just used to it ! Actually, I'm tired of it, I want to paint of it. >:O

Wow, this shirt is gorgeous! In a very manly way, of course.
I can't believe how great the molecule-y fabric works around the pocket area. I really love how you take the time with the layout of your fabric, and "see" how it comes together before you cut and sew. Not everyone is good at that, and some people just never really get the hang of it. MAD PROPS for your pattern-matching skillz. If this hadn't lined up right, it would have totally made me dizzy.:D
And the Jakob pattern suits you really well! What an awesome pattern. I like how it's fitted, but not so super-fitted that it looks uncomfy.

Nice job and I love the fabric. I'd like to make a skirt out of that if it were heavy enough.
Great work! The fabric is AWESOME.....
