I had read a thread a while back about wedding favor ideas and it got me thinking about what my family and I did for my wedding. I wanted to show all of the DIY things we did (And I am proud to say it was a very cheap but happy wedding). I hope the collage isn't too small to see the details.
We got married in the middle of September so the theme for my wedding was sunflowers and autumn, so the color was a cinnamon color and my flowers, naturally were sunflowers. Instead of flower petals tossed on the floor, the flower girl tossed lavender.
Starting in the top left corner: my centerpiece. I made them with the help of my caterer and my cousin/bridesmaid, we had 13 tables. And you can't see it, but I circled the wedding favor: it was mulling spices wrapped in burlap and tied with raffeta, we put them in a glass mug with instructions on how to use them.
Next to that is one of the bridesmaid's bouquet: I had 4 bridesmaids. My mother and my aunt made them as well as my bouquet, which is the next picture.
The flower girl's crown of flowers is next: my aunt had made that one.
Below that is the arbor my brothers and cousin made for my husband and I, we had the ceremony underneath it, it was very beautiful.
And the last one on the bottom left hand corner is the painted scenery behind the happy face bride and groom (That's not my wedding dress, I'm wearing a poncho, it was cold, and my aunt made me wear that, it was the only picture where you can see the scenery in the background very well, and I just noticed that my husband is wearing my veil, I'm not very observant, I guess). My bridesmaid and I painted that. The ceremony was supposed to be on a mountain overlooking a resevoir and mountains, but Tropical Storm Ivan had hit the day before, dumping loads and loads of rain on everything, causing me to have the ceremony in a pavilion at the park where the reception was...so my bridesmaid and I painted the scenery the day before my wedding, so we can have that "view" at my wedding.
It was the happiest day of my life, because my whole family helped me make it the happiest day.
