I found a catalogue from the 60's that has pretty much everything in it,
is there anything that i can make out of the pages.
I am going to make a backpack, like the one on makezine,
with the trashbags, grocery bags, or vinyl,
and I was wondering if there was a way I could incorporate them into that,
or not...
any ideas.:D

If you used some clear vinyl, you could make some pockets for the exterior, and slide either whole pages or cut strips into the pockets.

There is a book called DIY: Design It Yourself that has pictures for what I am talking about... I know I am not doing a good job describing it.

the thing that confuses me though about the plastic bags K.F.T.H. is on the makezine podcast, when the girl from etsy shows her's, the writing that was on the bag is readable, but she said if it has ink, to turn it inside out,
and neff, i know what you are talking about...the dude off of eeio.blogspot.com used that to put cards into his messager bag, which is the design I am using... kinda.:D

thanks for the help,
and p.s.
crystalzemoose, sorry about your headache.

i didnt turn it in side out, yet instead of parchment i used alumium, which is bad i think so even if you not pregnante wear a mask. anyway i tried with parchment and it just doesnt work, it will get stuck, or at least it did for me. i all depends on how you fold you plastic bag if the letters will show. hope that helped?

2 K.F.T.H.: kinda, but kinda not....im a confused person all together

i think what I might just end up doing is this:
i am going to salvation army, or helping hands, or goodwill and getting a sewing machine. (my sister stole the working one). and at my grandmas house, she has a lot A LOT of fabric that she cant use anymore, shes in the last stages of alzhymers, but I found some dark kakhi type stuff, and a cool little grey thingy.
i asked my dad to take me to get a sewing machine, he hurt my feeling and called me gay....but he didn't mean it....oh well, someone has to measure the fashion models lol.
i shall post up finshed pictures :D
thanks for all the help so far...

Does anyone know if i can get a seatbelt for free from a junk yard, or should I go get one for five dollars from the autoparts store??

THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE...:eek::eek::eek:

okay i can help you find more thift stores in your area if you need it or you could just look up thrift stores in yahoo! local or google earth(program you download to your computer) and try calling before you go out and they will tell if they have it in stock

Link for Google Earth: http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html

I had Google earth at one time, but got rid of it to make space on my machine, thanks for the tips, much appreciated, but the only thing we have in my town is salvation army, and I don't think they are opened on Sundays.. so i might just ask my sister if I can use hers.

ryanmoore.so sorry....really,
well, i found out what was happening with the messed up machine,
when the upper thread goes down, it either does not pass over the bobbin casing, and get stuck in it, or there is a little corner on the shuttle that it becomes stuck on.

my dad said that maybe if i changed the needle it would help,
any comments.

got some good news,
so...i decided to use the khaki and pattern textiles instead of bags or vinyl.
I also had to wing the pattern, because the one off of eeio.blogspot.com was to big it seemed like, and Bre's off of makezine was confusing on one of the measurements.
Should I retrace the pattern for the inner fabric, or would it be safe to pin the two pieces of fabric together then cut..

since this is my first big project, I shall take pictures along the way,
you guys are great,
can I get a Hazza' for the best fu***ng community on the web

much appreciation kingXkong

oh yeah, google earth isn't that helpful. it's cool to look at every now and then but i can just use 411 to find numbers

thats one of the main reason i dont want to really press my parents for a sewing machine cuz they automatically jump to conclusions
