Not to be contreversial, but what do you guys think about Hershey's chocolate moving to mexico and japan? Living in pennsylvania where hershey's started it's kind of a let down. A lot of people are saying they're going to boycott them. I'm still eating Hershey's chocolate though. I know we lost a lot of jobs here because of them, but it's just too darn good!!!! Especially reese's peanut butter cups which are made by hershey for those who didn't know. Okay, is hershey a national thing? I seriously don't read the newspaper or watch the news or even go out much to know that. Which is pathetic I know, but I'm always so tired from school to go out!:(
Well, let me know your opinion!!!!:)

I don't do much by way of news either...but I hadn't heard anything about Hershey going global. Does that mean that they are going to close down their headquarters there in Penn? And what about their theme park....
Anyways labor here in the US is expensive, thats why everyone is taking their businesses global. As my mother explained it (she works for Kodak) It can still be cheaper to have something built in another country, and then ship it and import it back here to the US, than it is to pay US employees to make the items.
Although, if they move operations out of the US, won't that affect the way the candy tastes?

Whaaaaaaaat??? I totally didn't know about that. I keep hearing about the casino opening in my hometown, so I guess I'd missed the Hershey thing.
I don't think it will work. Pennsylvania has a long history with good dairy cows. That's why Hershey created his business where he did - a good supply of dairy milk. I can't see where they would keep the taste of the chocolate at a consistent level?
Marshmallow Peeps are still made in my hometown, though, I think.

Yeah, I don't know about this either, but apparently it's been brewing for a couple years now. I think that it's very likely the taste will change. I don't think they'd close the original plant here though or the theme park, which by the way is awesome!
gapla47: what part of pa do you live in? I'm in hanover and go to college in york. Ladyjane is from bethlehem though she now lives in chicago.

I lived near Philidelphia when I was younger. Don't ask me the town name, I was three. Ah wait...Levittown...there it is on the map....And I just spent a year and a half in Edinboro, which is about 30mi south of Erie. I've moved a fair few times...But I live in Rochester, NY now. Its cold here....
My Grandparents and Great-Grandparents used to take me on vaca's to PA all the time.
