Ok so awhile ago i said my school's musical was THE WIZARD OF OZ. I am costume head for the show, I know right, its so awesome. So Our tech Director John, drew up these sketchs for the main characters, i have the other sketches but w/e. Victoria and I are working on the lion right now. I came up with the concept for it from the flapper dress i made awhile back ( http://forum.threadbanger.com/showthread.php?t=769&highlight=flapper+dress)

So we bought a white painters jumpsuit, PINCHed AND PINned, to make it fit him ( the actor playing the lion)and then we spray painted it with like 5 different colors. We let it dry. Then while it was drying, we dyed 8 yards of white cotton flannel, with dark brown, terra cotta, and sunshine colored dyes. So then we cut them into strips of fringe and we are handsewing them sice it would be really hard to do on the machine, and so we can say we hand-sewed it all. We arent finished yet, we still have to finish the torso and a sleeve, and add the white part on the front. We are going to make a pocket with water soluble paper, and then stuff that with couch stuffing someone had, and then chaos stitch all over it to secure it and then, wet it to dissolve the paper. then ta-da!!!!

Ok so , here is the original sketch.

Wowserz! Great job.
What do you mean with the pocket? like to the stuffing and stuff stays to look like fur? And is that some stuffing strewn about the "fur"/"hair"? If so... it could use a teensy, weensy bit more.
But you're not done and I'm absolutely positive It'll will look AMAZING.. ^_^
Nice job on a project of such big proportions...

I'm back on a sugar rush. =P uh-ohs

that's flippin sweet. you added your own style to the costume, and that's exactly what a designer should do. great job!

Sweet! I like the color of the suit, and are you going to do anything with the actors face?

I like it. With the main it will definately look like the lion!!!! right now it reminds me more of the scarecrow because the "fur" looks like "straw". Yeah, I know I had to say something bad about it. :( It looks awesome though!!!!!!!!!! After the wizard of oz you could do a play where you need seventies clothes and just take the fur off and have it be one of those shiney, tacky jumpsuits that they wore in the seventies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are an awesome designer!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you doing all the costumes or just the lion??????????????? If you're not doing all of them you should be!!!!!!!!!!!
