I'm sure most of you have seen Sweeney Todd. I haven't been able to get to the theater and see it yet.(which is pretty PATHETIC since it has been in theaters since December 21!!!!!!) I want to know if it's as good as everyone says. I really want to see it, but I don't want to waste time and money on a dumb movie. I figure it has Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman (Severus Snape!) in it so it must be good, but what did you guys think???????????

It was okay. Not the greatest work of Burtons, or Mr. Depps, but thats my opinion. You should still see it though. It is worth the watch. Maybe just wait till it comes out on DVD

umm...well I was disapointed with it
with all the hype about it most everywhere I went I was expecting something spectacular...and it was well...creepy
the singing was alright in a dark musical way (not the traditional everyone in a 3 block radius joins in the song)
the costumes were good..but the lighting made it hard to see all the work that must have gone into them.
did I mention that it was creepy?
so over all I'd give it like a 3 out of 5 a nice middle...worth the watch once on DVD but not really worth all the $ you have to shell out these days for a theater.

Yea, I seen it yesterday and I was disappointed too. I was expecting so much more. But it was okay.

I enjoyed it, but it is certainly not my favourite of Burton's work. Still fun, though.

I might get shanked for saying this, but I think the movie would have been better if it weren't a musical. I realize the play was originally a musical, but the play itself was based off of a story, I believe, and so didn't necessarily have to be a musical.

I normally like musicals like The Sound of Music, but the singing in this movie got really irritating, and at certain parts I couldn't understand what they were saying.

Overall, though, it was worth seeing. I'm a huge Alan Rickman fan and I've got a girl crush on Helena Bonham Carter, so sitting through the music was more then worth it. The story itself is very interesting, and for once I found myself slightly enjoying Tim Burton's style.

I was surprised by it.

It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen. That's what surprised me.

But it has Johnny Depp in it and was directed by Tim Burton. For me, those are two MAJOR points against. Another one for Sacha Baren-Cohen being in it as well.

The creepiness worked... But since I saw it on a Tuesday night when I usually watch CSI, every time he slit a throat, I kept hearing The Who in one ear, and thinking that it'd be really easy to track him down.

I liked it.

I don't understand why people are saying it's creepy. You went to it knowing it was a musical about a barber who kills people and makes them into pies, what made you think it would be any sort of normal?

Not good, not bad, but AWESOME! watching Johnny Depp sing is like watching a pig fly, it is so amazing. Usually, the movie version of musicals cut out stuff, and redo things, and makes it crappy, but here Tim Burton's genius was just what this musical needed. Helena Bonham Carter is so cool! Definitely a fashion icon of mine. How could anyone not love it?

But my favorite Tim Burton movie is still Ed Wood.
