Hyde Park, which is a neighborhood in Chicago. Home of the University of Chicago.
Here, we have more Nobel Prize winners than you can imagine, and more books than you can possibly imagine. You simply can't read them all, and when people move away, they give away their books for free in piles on the front stoop. Books that would normally sell for good $$$ at your local used book store, just get abandoned here. It's crazy.
And Chicago is very anti-ketchup on hotdogs. I have flat-out had people laugh and goof on me when I put ketchup on a hotdog.

tbh i'm not even sure its some strain of a virus or bacteria or something anyway it got into the city's water supply and now everyone has to either boil their water before use or buying gallons of water... which is annoying.

Same thing in Malaysia. I never had the problem myself, but I know tourists have a lot of horror stories.
It's because they don't boil the water to make ice cubes with. I just adapted to the bacteria in KL really quickly!

Red Deer, Alberta, Canada
The "Hub of Alberta".
Red Deer is known for its beautiful parks and its people. We'll complain about everything, but if you say anything bad about Alberta we'll defend it to the end.
Alberta has many attractions of which Red Deer is right in the middle, here are just a few:
West Edmonton Mall (Edmonton 148 km away)
The Rocky Mountains (Banff 253 km away)
The Badlands (home of the dinosaurs, Drumheller 165 km away)
The Corn Maze (Lacombe 22 km away)
Calgary (145 km away)
Sylvan Lake (23 km away)
Yes, I am bragging.
We have snow here from some time in October until some time in April. Some people will be wearing shorts and sandles long before all the snow is melted. Those same crazy people will most likely have socks in their sandles. :)

What you'll find here:
The Good: A lot of diversity, the best Chinese restaurants EVER, beautiful beaches, beautiful rainforests, etc.
The Bad: The beautiful rainforests are blocked off by the government and the beautiful beaches are eroding and have rich peoples houses parked on them anyways. Also, insanely random weather, sunburned tourists, and a whole lot of reggae bands (bad in my opinion, I don't like reggae).
The Ugly: For some reason, it's cool for tough kids to wear socks with slippers (flip flops).

We are a Island! And i am proud to be called a 'NEWFIE'.
What you can find here is alot of Irish undertones. We have a cute accent and talk really fast (not so much here in the city but most of the province). We are all slowly moving to Alberta because there is more money to be made there. I really don't want to move because i like it here.
p.s. it is pronounced 'new-found-land' not new-fin-lind. alot of people make that mistake.

What you'll find:
West Edmonton Mall, Animethon (anime convention), several other festivals especially during the summer like the fringe festival.... and I'm sure there is tonnes more.
I've only really lived here for about six or seven months so I haven't seen everything or even a huge amount.
Strangely enough I was born here but this is my first time living here.
I lived in Grande Prairie, Alberta for most of my life and what you'll find there is mostly oilfield workers. It has a community college and it's not a bad place to live.. I liked it myself. There's just not a huge amount there or much of a special reason to go there.

Auckland, New Zealand. Well, there's the pretty common joke here that I don't think many other countries would have: "there goes our whole airforce" when a single plane passes overhead. Other than that there's L&P, and sheep outnumber people 4 to 1. it's pretty racially diverse here, mainly in the bigger cities like Auckland and Wellington. yep- that's NZ. oh- and you're never more than 50kms from water, be it river, lake ,sea. The main predator in New Zealand are the cops on ticket blitzes, or the south Aucklander stealing your lunch. Seen it too, drove past Onehunga shops and saw some guy shoplift the owner's lunch. he he heh. But it's a great place to live here, I love it very much.

Connecticut
Despite the common stereotype, this state isn't comprised of a bunch of rich snobs. The people here are friendly and self-absorbed (in the good way, as in they really don't care what you do as long as you're not harming anyone.) The land is beautiful and it's very easy to come in contact with nature. The air is clean (I hate smokers) and at night you can smell spruce trees in the wind and see the stars up above. I swear that the best restaurants are in Connecticut. I've been to every state along the East Coast, all the way down to Florida and NONE of the restaurants in all of those states compare to the food I get in Connecticut. Especially Italian food (Which I love!)
Connecticut is also the only place I've experienced something I like to call the "Perfect Silence", which is after a snowstorm you go outside and hear absolutely nothing (maybe a little wind). In front of you, the trees are still, the land is covered in white and there isn't a single footprint in the snow. It's such a wonderful experience! Autumn is also amazing. I went home the other day and stood at the end of my street, watching multicolored leaves gently cascade down to the road. It made me breathless. I love my state!:D

Canberra, Australia.
Here you'll find the bluest skies around, hot dry crackly summers, cold frosty winters and clearly defined spring and autumn. This is also a very very white city from the looks of it....I think it's because here in the capital we are more "educated" (demographics, I'm not being snobby!)
It's also very isolated from the other cities..and it's the only capital city in Australia which is away from the coast. Not sure what else to say about it. They say it's the "backyard chook capital of Australia."
