Hi peepsI was just wandering if anybody could give me some pointers on how to tun a pair of normal jeans into a pair of skinny jeans. i know that this may sound a silly question but i was just wandering if anyone had any pointers.

Try going and checking out this tutorial. It explains things much better than I could. Hope it helps.

i did it a couple weeks ago.
1) put the jeans on inside out and pin up both you legs until they are simi-skin tight
2) take them off and start sewing down the pin line
3) try on before you cut, the first time i did it i couldn't get my heel threw so i had to get my seam taker outer and take some stiches out
4) cut the remaining fabric.

Maybe you could ask OutsaPop, I think she has something for that on her flicker account...

turning your pants inside out is the first step.
then pin the sides making it as tight as you want. i use safetypins because my projects tend to sit around for awhile and i know that those won't fall out.
then sew down the line of pins and try 'em on

That's specifically why I don't wear skinny-jeans. They just don't work when you're too skinny.

That tutorial posted by rexanimatrix is good (+ I love the illustrations). It is easier to make skinny jeans when the denim is complitely black. Then you do not have to worry about getting the abrasions to match. Abraded denim is more difficult.

I do have a tutorial on how to make your denims more narrow.

It was originally made for "carrot shaped" jeans, but the same principal applies to making your basic skinny denims as well. My tutorial is a bit long.. but I´m a perfectionist. The result needs to look very naturally worn. The way I do it, the front sideseam curves to the back (heel) so all the extra fabric is cut out from the back leg piece. This way your abraded sideseam is still visible and the result more professional looking.

"Pinch and Pin" works perfect if your in a hurry :D Who´s going to look at the insides anyway??

For me, it's the easiest thing to do! You just wear them on the other side, use pins (on both legs) to see where to sew (how tight you want them too), then take the pants off and sew after those pins; then just cut the extra fabric off, sew one more time for safety, and there you have it:) skinny jeans!

I had a post on my blog, a while ago, where I showed those before-after pics. You can read it by clicking here:

It's really easy. You just have to dare cutting up your beloved jeans:)

do you try to mimic the original hem work of the jean.. or just sew regularly... with the right sides together...

I just sewed regularly and then cut out the extra fabric.
