Animal/Custom Fleece Hats

Okay so someone requested a tutorial on my hats.

That is the basic design you use.
You need four of that shape, seam alowance is already in there, it makes a pretty big hat to tell the truth, the result is about 25 inches around.

Anyways, you cut out four dome-like quadrants.
SEW TOGETHER TWO AT A TIME. after you have the fours into a pair sewn on one side, decide if you want ears, or anything like that.
EXAMPLE.

For a panda hat you need to put the ears in now.
You can stuff the ears or leave them flat. The part that you want outside of the hat should be laying on it when you sew it on.

When you are ready and have everything the right way pin the two pieces together making sure to leave the inside out and that the ears are on the inside of that.

Then you sew. You'll have a funky looking hat at this point. It'll look really miniature compared to a normal hat. All you need is a band. I usually do a 3" one thats double-sided for extra warmth.

i wanted to see how fusing plastic bags together would be... so... i fused together about 6 plastic bags, they were brown... i work at safeway.. i wanted to experiment a little... and i made one of these little hats with my fused plastic. it's really neat, and i got to see how it would look and experiment with ears, and accessories... of course it can't fit my head because it doesn't stretch... But it's super neat. ;D

Oh my! Wow!
Being all new on here I was just surfing around and spotted this. I jumped in and swam around a bit seeing what this was all about.
Boy was I surprised! This was the exact thing I was trying to do on my own and having an issue with!
I'm now working a new hat (which is not as funky as my other one I was doing without the tut). I'll have to post a picture soon! =D

I make these all of the time! They're way fun. If you want the band to be the same colour, I usually just make the hat really long, and then fold it up so it's double warm, and it's really strong. :]
