ok so this is what i came up with for the one tree hill shirt as requested by number7gal.( http://forum.threadbanger.com/showthread.php?t=3601 ) it only took me about 45 min. i would suggest using a shirt that is a little bit longer than you want the end product to be. ok here goes.
the shirt:

STEP 1: cut the sleeves off.(sorry the pic is funky)

STEP 2: cut the collar, then mark the center, eyeball it to the depth you want it, then make lines(i eyeballed this part too, but you could use a ruler) in the shape of a V.

STEP 4: mark the center of the back and make a line about 3/4 of the way down. cut.

STEP 5: cut the straps so that they are about 1 inch thick by the collar. it's easiest to cut from the armhole up, sloping it gently. you will only need to go to the shoulder seam, because you will cut the back later.

STEP 6:cut from the backside of the armhole to the shoulder seam, sloping it to match the front( i only got a side shot of this, sorry.)

STEP 7:now cut the inside of the strap to look like this(except, straight lol):

STEP 8: cut the straps in the back. i marked one side and cut the other in the pic, but its best to mark them both and then cut.

STEP 9: slim down the bottom straps so that they are easier to tie.
STEP 10: tie the straps.to do this, i placed the top two straps one on top of the other, being careful not to get them twisted. then i did the same thing with the bottom straps, then tied a simple square knot with both the top and the bottom. i couldn't get pictures of that process, just the end result! sorry!
