I don't wanna creep anyone out, but there have been reported cases of bedbugs going up in the USA. I've been doing a little reading up on it.

Be sure to be very careful when bringing used furnishings into your home. Be sure to wash all bed linens in the hottest water possible. Also, sometimes they can live in used furniture such as wicker.

Here's the wikipedia article on it. Yes, there are creepy pics of the bugs up close and personal, just warning people who hate pics like that:

If anyone else has any tips on Bedbugs and how to avoid them, post 'em here.

It's not a myth! I heard the same thing from my... well, some sort of family member who is related to me in a complicated way is director of some branch of the EPA and his wife who runs a major hospital in SF told us last month that bedbugs were on the rise. According to their instructions we now wash all the kids' clothing and bedding and our own bedding in really hot water.

Yeah, it's interesting. One theory is that DDT used to kill bedbugs, but now that DDT is (rightfully!) outlawed, you can use Roach Gel to kill roaches...but it doesn't kill bedbugs.

Yeek!

I've heard of bedbugs and whatnot though I haven't heard of anyone having problems with them.

From what I understand bedbugs can travel with people in their clothes and bedding and such. So one place to really beware of bedbugs is hotel rooms. You don't know who was in the room beforehand and if they left anything like that behind.
It's a good idea to check the mattress over when you get into your room.

I was watching "How Clean Is Your House?" or something similar and they said regular vacuuming of the mattress can help as well.

This gives me the creeps

I really hate staying in hotels. You have to be careful with so much stuff!
Sheets.
Pillows.
2-way mirrors. (really)
Showers.
Yuck.

Isn't that kind of illegal..? Two-way mirrors in hotels unless they put up a sign that says it's there..?

Well, yeah, but something being illegal doesn't stop some people...
