skirts maybe?

but then- you're a guy... well you could give the mto someone... or make one for your friend as a going away gift?

unless the curtains are uber ugly and/or would be uncomfortable for wearing..

you could cut it into strips and make it into one of those seporator curtain things (like if you have a walk-in bathroom or closet you could hang it i nthe passageway thing)

ooooooooooooooooooor table-cloths?

@A@ ai donno

wat color/size are they?

A neat CD case holder (just sew on square pockets) then again I'm still collecting CDs for the album art... am I really that old?

No

If you were collecting vinyls records for their cover art, then you'd be old ;)

Canvas-type material is great to have on hand. They can be used to make messenger bags or anything else that needs a bit of substance. Use it to line something, too, that doesn't need the fullness of batting but needs a bit of structure. I buy canvas by the bolt, it's great to have. I've been aching to make myself one of those organizers that tuck in under the mattress or over the arm of the couch and hold the remotes and a magazine and such.

since it already has the like ring things to hang it up why don't you use then for something that might require a drawstring ... like ok the first thing i thought of when i heard canvas was like sports bag/duffle.... but i'm not really sure how you could incorperate the rings.... maybe like a lace up opening or soming .... ok in my head this is stating to look like a corset... lol

I buy all my fabrics from a local quilt shop. Small shops will have MUCH better quality fabric than warehouse fabric stores do (like Joann's and Hancock) and if you get in with the owner she might give you a good deal if you buy a whole bolt of something.

My mom owns the one here in town, but if you just do a google search for your area and "quilt shop" you might be able to find something. Your post info says you're from Virginia Beach, so I did this search (http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&q=category:+Quilting+Materials+%26+Supls&near=Virginia+Beach,+VA&fb=1&view=text&cd=1&hl=en&f=l&oi=ls_category&sa=X&ct=result&ei=pjy3RuGPBaDKjAPb9rzODA).

But look around. There's so much fabric out there that quilt shops can't possibly all carry the same stuff - one might be more cutesy and floral while another one might be more vibrant and fun. Find one that fits your style. You'll pay more for fabric there, but if it's a project you want to last a long time it's TOTALLY worth it.

Another idea is that she might want the curtains as curtains for her dorm room.

You could do something fun with a set of rainbow sharpies, or fabric paint markers, and decorate them like crazy as a going-away present.

The duffle bag sounds totally cool, though.
