Hey everyone,

I made this little guy for my cousin's new baby for Christmas. It kind of made me sad to part with him.

I got the pattern from this book (http://www.amazon.com/Last-Minute-Knitted-Gifts-Joelle-Hoverson/dp/1584793678), which is full of really beautiful projects that don't take a ton of time. The book also has directions for a bunny and teddy bear, so I might have to make myself one to keep from missing the elephant too much. :)

XOX,
Lauren

Cute! You don't see many elephant toys anymore. At least not where I live, unless you go to the zoo.

You should definietely make one for yourself.
Is the scarf a shoe-lace?
Clever!

The scarf is actually knit separately- just 5 stitches across in garter stitch. I used thin thread since it's so little. Thanks for looking. :)

Paging Mamma Sasss! Cute Elly-funt alert!

That's seriously adorable. I've been saying that a lot, but there's so much cuteness on the boards lately.

I hope he wasn't sad to leave you. He seems a little blue.

Wow! How long did that take to make? I'm such a slow knitter. That would have taken me a year. lol

Oh, I'm on this one, Lady Jane!

I'm agog.
I've been meaning to crochet an elephant for myself.

Yours is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too precious.

Fashionmama- The books in the project are divided up by how long they're supposed to take and he was in the 6-8 hour section. He took me quite a bit longer though, since I have a short attention span and get to do other stuff while I'm knitting, plus there were a lot of techniques (like the provisional cast-on, working with two round needles, etc) that I was learning for the first time as I made it. I'd say I put in about a day and a half of not-so-diligent labor. Fortunately I was on a deadline for Christmas, or I'd never have finished. :)

MamaSasss- I would recommend you go for crocheting that elephant. They're pretty rewarding.

And thank you everyone for the replies! I just joined the forum a couple of days ago and I'm amazed at how sweet everyone is.

It's called "Last Minute Knitted Gifts" by Joelle Hoverson from Purl. If you go to this page- http://www.purlsoho.com/purl/our_books - it's the second book and there are a few pictures from other projects.

Thanks for looking! xox
