EVER SINCE CORINNE STARTED WEARING THAT TIE CUFF
SHE GOT ON AN EPISODE
EVERYONE HAS BEEN INSPIRED TO MAKE THEM
BUT SOME PEOPLE HAD QUESTIONS
SO I DECIDED TO MAKE A TUTORIAL

Materials:

Kick-BUTT tie
BIG button
Sewing machine
Buttonhole foot for machine
tape measure
marker
scissors
seam ripper

ok so start out by measuring your wrist
mine was 6 but make sure you measure how big
dont make it too tight
you also need some for it to overlap ( an inch or two)
http://i4.tinypic.com/6yz4oyg.jpg

cut the bottom 12 inches off of your tie
from the pointy end
http://i2.tinypic.com/72hv4ao.jpg

hem the unfinished end
however you like i fold mine over like wrapping a present
( for reference chck the new episode)
http://i14.tinypic.com/7wyfj94.jpg

now you are going to put on your buttonhole
lay your button on the pointy end
mark the top and the bottom
draw a line to connect them
( add a 1/8 to 1/4 inch)
http://i2.tinypic.com/86e6zut.jpg

now you make your buttonhole
http://i13.tinypic.com/8bscpqs.jpg

take your seam ripper and open the buttonhole
do this carefully
http://i8.tinypic.com/6pyx3wy.jpg

wrap it around your wrist
and take your marker and draw in the opne buttonhole
a line on where to sew on your button

Sew your button on where you marked
( if you dont know how refere to this episode)

I really love the big orange button!

And - I really need to try my buttonholer on my machine.

I wonder if you could cut open a buttonhole with an X-Acto knife? It'd be more accurate than a razor blade or whatever.

hmm I just thought of something..

I wanna do this..but I dont want the width of the tie to be that big..id rather is be thinner.. how can i do that without messing up the shape of the tie? or do they come in other widths/sizes( I wouldnt knwo since Ive never owned a tie since I iz a girly XD )

Well, ties have a bigger end (the part you usually see) and a smaller end, which gets tucked behind. Why not repeat those steps, but use the other end of the tie? That might work. You'd have to use a smaller button, tho.

OH thats a great idea. Thank you =]

and real fast..is there a special button(or stich ) thats on your sewing machien to make a button hole in specific? or do you just use a tight zig zag pattern?

Sorry if I ask too much..i just like details XD

I've never used it, but my machine has an automatic 4-step buttonholer. Some machines don't, many machines do. And machines that do usually come with a special buttonholer foot.

then I dont think mine does..My machine is rather old..it was y grandma's. But all i could get ahold of for right now.

Heck im surprised it has a back stich button! lol

but it doesnt work too well..for some reason the bottom string allways seems to tangle up underneath..making the seam either look super messy and tangly..or snagging.

:(

But alright thank..I will try out the stiches on my machine and see if they have one that will work.

I believe there is a way to make buttonholes with just a regular zigzag foot and zigzag stitch, but I can't remember if I saw this in a book or on the web. And it is a bit more complicated than with a buttonhole foot!

yea I was working on it yesterday..I may need to get a lil better at making it straighter..but I got the basic Idea..lol.
