So I've been lurking this forum for a while and I finally decided to post. The most "recent" thing I've crafted was my Halloween costume which is comprised of newspaper, ductape, and an old t-shirt. The hat was also handmade and was attached to a dollar store headband.
I thought I'd share. =)

That hat... I want it!
I wonder if school code would allow it here... Technically, I think it is more of a headband than a hat.......THIS IS GENIUS! I can wear hats without getting in trouble! ... uh... Maybe!
You rock.

That's awesome! Do you have a name for your costume? I mean what were you going as? Or did you just go as someone wearing a really cool paper dress? :)
It's totally refabulous, the hat gives a very refined touch. I think if you expanded on the concept, (adding more layers, light lamination maybe?) it would be an awesome dress even for non costume events.

Reminds me of a game we used to play as kids- who can make a dress out of newspaper in 5 minutes. Then we'd have a fashion show with judges...

The actual name for my costume was the "Newspaper Fairy". I don't have wings because Newspaper Fairies deliver on bicycle. :D
As for ripping problems, there were a couple. But the duct tape I took to school came in handy for that. The dress down hangs in my room as an art piece. =)

"Newspaper Fairy" lol That's awesome.
Both of my little girls were fairies for Halloween. I'm not sure they would have liked the idea of me making their costumes out of newspaper. :) I went with the good ol' cloth method.
