Sweeney top hat

Hey guys, I disappeared here for a while cause of the holidays, but Im back! Sorta.

So I watched Sweeney Todd opening day, and loved loved loved it, Im such a victorian era whore it's not even funny :p, Anyway Helena Bonham Carter was wearing this tiny top hat in one of the scenes and I set out to try and make a re creation of it, mine isn't as elaborate because it's a prototype, but Im hoping to make a fancier one soon. Anyway, here's the results, I made it out of blue felt, cardboard, and black satin ribbon.

The bow in the back is fluffier than this, my finger is just squishing it.

So frellin cute! I love that whole Victorian "tiny hat" trend or whatever it was called. Even though it's just a prototype, I think you did a really great job. The ribbon looks so cute - how'd you get the ruffly effect? Just gather it and stitch it on there?

--For those who don't know, if you look through fashion history books, there were a few years during the Victorian era where these little hats were super-popular with fashionable ladies. So it was a real-life trend, not made up for the movie.

Yes! The little hat is my favorite trend as well! I want to make one with feathers eventually, seems I have a knack for hats , it's silly.

For the ruffly efect thats exactly what I did, I just started stitchiing and making like pleats every so often. I think it looks simple but pretty, I think Im going to wear it to my second veiwing of the movie ^+^

Thats so great! i was so inspired by Sweeny i must have driven my friend crazy when we were eating after all i would talk about is how great the costumes were.
