ok so after typing this out I realized there are 6 steps but the 6th is optional depending on what you want the purse to look like at the end.

since I made the purse and now I'm explaning it there arent many pics sorry

1:remove white fur cuff. set aside

2:lay lining fabric out and fold in half and lay hat on to trace the shape
(you want to do about half the length of the hat) place the folded edge of the lining towards the "tip" end of the hat
cut about a half inch away from the edge of the hat (seam allowance)
cut out handles now too. (mine were 3.5"X the length of the cuff I removed)
lining will look like a V with a flat bottom (you could also make your purse using the whole length of the that then it would be a V shape lining. and you would not have the folded edge along the bottom but down one side)

3:sew down sides of lining, sew long side of handles together (make an inside out tube) turn handles right side out. I stuffed mine with some pillow stuffing to have thick hadles, but you could just use some batting when you are sewing them to have flatter handles.

4: Place lining in hat (wrong sides together, so no seams are showing) stitch around edge (only about 1/4 inch away from edge) be careful not to stretch the furry fabric!! place handles (upside down) and pin in place making sure they match up. sew these on over where you just stitched in the lining ( I go over the handles 2 times each to make sure they are secure) (this step is so it everything is in place and you don't have to worry about things moving when you reattach the cuff) all your "raw" edges should be along the top with the handles inside the purse at this point.

5:lay cuff fur side on the right side of the lining (it will cover the handles) sew using a 1/2 inch seam
fold over (all your raw edges are now tucked under the cuff) TADA a purse!!

6: (optional) check the depth of the lining and mark it. then pull the lining up& out of the bag. sew a line where the bottom of the purse is (makes it eaiser to fold up the end) fold up the point and tack in place (by hand & making sure not to catch the lining fabric) hand sew free edge of cuff down to make a more finished purse.

the firs pic is step 5 the second is the finished purse

Awsome! What is even better is that they sell santa hats at the dollar store this time of year, so the project is easy and cheap! Yay!

that's where I got this hat!! I had the candy cane/holly cotton I used for the lining already, and the polka dot for the handles, and the stuffing in the handels. so it's a $2 gift!! only took like 5 min to gahter supplies and cut
then like another 8 to sew it up!!

This is a great idea. It would be really cute too if you did all different kinds of santa/xmas hats like elf hats or different colour santa hats (I've seen pink ones!).
