I'd be tempted to say that putting "Vans" onto the wallet merely reinforces the idea of the worth of brand name goods.
But, y'know, whatever.
Might want to stitch that fabric on properly, though, safety pins aren't brilliant if something's going to be popping in and out of your pocket all day.

I think you have made some pretty nice things there. Really like the wallet. I'm not that fan of your necklace. And, btw, you may want to adjust the date on your camera ;)
Keep on, and please post more pictures when you have new things to show. :)

Well "Coffe " you are right ... but obviously Vans hasn't a wallet like I want
so i made it ^^ and its so much cheaper!!
and i use safety pins because I think they look good ... I put safety pins everywhere :)
"Lassjus" Thanks ... you made my day^^ anyway i couldn't work it out how to do the date away of my camera...:( (and its totally wrong!!!)

Obviously there's nothing wrong with safety pins - but it's a wallet, and they might not withstand sliding in and out of your pocket all day.
As for branding...
If it means something to you, that's good. But on the surface, it seems like putting a corporate logo on it could be seen as supporting the brand-obsessed corporate fashion world which DIY is currently very much a rejection of. If Vans don't make the wallet you want, make the wallet you want - but what's the point of it if you want a Vans wallet?

i really like the necklace. and when out at buttony places, one often sees great things that they only have one of and not enough to redo whole articles of clothing (upholstery buttons are also something to look for).
and as far as the wallet critiques, i think if you were to have redesigned the vans logo it might have been received warmly.
and always remember, if someone looks at what you've made and says "so?"
say "so...sew buttons on your underwear."
hey i really like your braclet, and your red button pretty swwt!
thumbs up!:)

I am mostly surprised that a Classics scholar would be after a Vans logo ;) I like the button thing, it's cute!

well i actually STILL don't know what's so wrong with writing vans on my wallet the drawing just means that you can write everything you want on it...
I just like vans...
I opened this thread also for little ideas of other people so
Post it !!!! when you have some nice little details ....!!!!

Yeah, I kinda overreacted there.
But to me, brands are just a way that the corporations create "added value" for a product.

hey i like the necklace idea ... i'm into using buttons too cos there are so many of them floating around... i understand the kerfuffle about the vans logo ... why not put your own logo on it..?
