View Full Version : My Cable Knit Hat
I've been knitting around the house and my 3 year old keeps asking me what I'm doing and if I'll make him something - so I knit him this super cute cable knit hat. He's too young to care that there's pink in there. I'm going to knit another one for my baby.
I'm also going to knit more and donate them to the local foster kid center. They really like stuff like that.

Luv the hat and your little boy with the big box of cereal is too cute. Gotta love em when they are little like that and don't care what they have on and if it matches anything. You should have seen some of the wonderful outfits my youngest daughter wore to school last year. Floral skirt, floral shirt, and floral tight and they all matched cuz they had flowers on them. ARRRG my eyes. Good job; I stink at knitting and I never got into it enough to learn a cable stitch. Makes me want to buy some needles and pick it up again.

He is sooo cute! I love the colors in the hat. I knitted my daughter a hat that she loves too. It was simple though. I hope I get good enough to do one like that!

aw he's so adorable! and the hat is cute too.
i can only do the simplest stitch for knitting. i should probably try to learn how to do "cable knit" but im waiting to see if there will ever be a threadhead episode on that. *hint hint wink wink nudge nudge* ;)

I love the colors, and also that you are cool enough to include the pink! Down with gender-based color wear, I say.
Looks warm and soft.

Awww he's so cute! I love the hat, haven't quite figured out how to do cable knitting Any chance of a tute?
Thanks guys! My husband cracked up when I showed him the first picture. My son wore his hat when he went to bed, too. He really likes it.
Cable knitting is unbelievably easy. I'll do a tute as soon as I can, but, really, it's very, very easy.
aww hes soo cute with his lil hat...i'll bet when he wears it out he will tell ppl his mommy made it for him..... i wish i could make hats....oh well.. great job on the hat.

Kate...your son looks absolutely precious in the hat!
The hat itself looks wonderful! I totally agree that cables are incredibly easy. At first I was nervous about trying them because they do look a little complicated, but then when I read how they were done it all made sense and I then realized how easy they are to do.
I'm making the Irish Hiking Scarf (http://www.helloyarn.com/irishhikingcarf.htm) for my boyfriend, so I'm doing lots of cables. I love doing cables, but after this project I might need to take a nice long break from them (he wants it about 60" and that means 55 repeats...165 cables!).
Thanks guys! I'm working on a video tute on knitting cables, hopefully I'll have that up later today!
