For medium size to large size dogs it's pretty hard to find stuff for them to wear. So since the weather is getting colder it's time to hook your buddy up with something warm (and cheap) to wear.

You can use any old tshirt, polos, sweatshirt, etc.. Above is where you have to measure (arrows), cut & sew. Old Polo Shirts works best.

Basically using the 'Pinch & Pin' method, turn your shirt inside out and put it on your dog. You need to cut & hem the front of the shirt where your dog belly is. (Green Arrow) The shirt might be longer than your dog, so just trim it (Blue Arrow) and hem it. Put it on your dog to test fit it. If it fits, flip it right side out and you're done. If not 'Pinch & Pin' the area that don't fit and sew it up.

For long sleeves shirts you will have to trim & hem it to your dog's legs.

Nice tutorial, good instructions.

For my old greyhound cross, I find a very small or maybe a child's v-neck t-shirt or scoop neck at a thrift or rummage sale. The front goes over her back and the excess material gets caught up in a knot at one side. She loves them and will eagerly prance waiting for me to put one on her. Since the front of the shirt is often pretty, it looks good on her back.

I used to do that too, but they always manage to undo the knots somehow and end up stepping/tripping on the shirt.

OK, that's seriously adorable, and really clever. Great tute! The pics are really super-clear, too.

Oh, what an excellent idea! I have been messing around with failed patterns to make some chihuahua clothes for a month now (baby clothes is a good idea). This should be much easier. :D Thanks!
