View Full Version : MY super ugly curtain messenger bag!!!

ok so my school theater
(which i am proudly a part of)
we were cleaning out our costumes loft and we had
an uber load of fabric my teacher was just gonna throw away
and so my ALARm went off
and i was like NOOOO
so i sorted through it
and i found some funky patterns
and stuff with lots of fabric
cuz thats the rule
rob and corinne said so
in the episode where they go to goodwill
and make the reversible bag

anyways i needed a new backpack for school
cuz my old one was hurting my shoulder
so i made a new one duh!
and i used some of the ugly fabric i got from the theater
i like messenger bags so i made one of those
and it is sooo not something i would NORMALLY MAKE
there are NO raw edges
and everything is sewn stright
its weird
and i did what the humblebumbleb lady did ( dont remember her name)
with the seams where you fold them down
i did that to ALL of the seams

ok now to the bag!

now the flap is open
I love how the inside of the flap matches the sides

side view
(so you can see the side fabric)

i love it sooo much
probably because it soo freakin ugly
which is why i love it
( wow thats redundant)

anyways

whacha think????

I like it! I like the white and green flower pattern

its so weird
the two ugly patterns somehow match
well not really "match"
but they dont clash its soo weird
somehow they "flow"

Nice job! Looks very professional.

wow thanks

i even put a piece of pleather ( yay fake)
which i also got from school
i put the pleather inside the flap
so it actually "flap"s and doesnt "flop"

Awesome! I don't like leather. Even when I'm in a car and there is leather seats. I see blood and animal faces everywhere. Its like eww; I'm sitting on a carcass. That is amazing that most Americans couldn't stand bugs in there house or to kill there own food, but they manage to wear skin and fur that belonged to a living being.

wow i never thought of it that way
but i didnt really like real stuff

and im gonna quote the show i just wrapped up today

" to not actively fight against it is to actively condone it"

and that goes along the lines of real fur and stuff

Are messeger bags what people call 'man-purses' cause I've heard that term before, never seen one?

ryanmoore
11-19-2007, 02:46 AM
not that i know of

murses as they are more formally known

are like any bag a man would carry like a woman would carry a purse
so a murse could really look like anything

but alot of murses are messenger bags
but not all messenger bags are murses

catch my drift?

i actually made a murse from

99 ways ( denim)

Wow! It does look pretty professional.
Personally, I think it's super ugly, but I do like the green & white fabric.

Ahh, murses. Gotta love a man with a purse. :D

I love how you finished all the seams! That took patience, excellent job.

And, WHOA I gotta admit I wasn't expecting that fabric scheme.

It's so...1980's Laura Ashley. I'm more fond of the purple/blue/white/every fricken color of the rainbow paisley floral.

I think the green + floral kind of made it work.

There's something completely demented about it, but it works!!! It's clash-a-riffic.

wow, that's fugtastic XD it's so ugly it's great. awesome job, the seams look good with the stitching around them :) that must've been a b*tch and a half to do, especially around the corners. is the paisley actually kinda shiny, or is that from the camera flash?

LUV IT!!!!!!!!! it is FUGLY and fun. What a great use for fabric that has no home. I am Soooo jealous of such a great source of freebie fabric.

The only thing I may have done differently would be to add a pocket for little stuff like $$$, calculator, pens, pencils, etc. Great job looks like it will hold up to some abuse. Nice idea about the pleather in the flap.

good idea about the pocket
but i alreadly made a little pouch i keep a whole bunch of stuff in

(pens, pencils, comb, band aids, nail clippers, highlighter, sharpie, safety pins, ipod, and my phone)

but i might add a little zippered pocket for my phone!
thanks
