Here's a turtleneck I reconned into a cardigan of sorts:

Before (meh):

After

I removed the collar, slit down the center, folded back the top of the slit-open part to make a new collar of sorts, rolled over and sewed the inside slit with little hems to avoid fraying, attached a hair elastic and a HUGE honkin' 1980's button for a closure.

My bf hates it. I love it tho.

Nicely done! Love the big 80s button. I kinda wish I had one now.

Thanks, folks! My bf was like, "That Big Button is so 80's!!!":eek::eek:

Uh, that was the point! Hee.

He's very cute, and very liberal, and nice to small kids and small animals. But, he sometimes just doesn't understand my need to be slightly weird. :) I think he's used to it by now, though.

Most of my stuff won't be terribly Punk Rawk, but I'm trying to do "grown-up" DIY that isn't super-trendy that, uh...looks like me.

***Edit:

I think the reason why women in their 30's wind up in fugly boring clothing is that ALL of the stuff on the racks is either really impractical, really $$$, or really "Mom Jeans." It's so awful!!!

Love the "honkin" button! I laughed when I read that part.

Maybe he's just like me, and doesn't like the 80s much.

Well, yeah, that. Hell, I lived thru the 80's, and I hated them! The big buttons were cute, tho.

***Edit: I just realized I've been saying "fugly" since I was 15? Holy hell. It's a great word, tho.
