Hey everyone. Been following the show for a couple weeks and after a few practice projects, I decided to make a hoodie. Just followed the link to the tutorial on craftster.org and this is the result.

I wanted to get some victorian-esque fabric. I may go back and add a flap to cover the zipper with little snaps so it looks "button-up"

oh my goodness
why is everyone sew good at making those hoodies ( pun inteneded) haha
i tried making one but i quit after cutting out the fabric
it might be the fabric im using though
its really rough
and it pulls apart sometimes and it is not very stretchy at all
so instead of doing that my mom went a bought a pattern
and we are going to try that

anyone have ideas for cool fabric patterns....
i was thinking superman

does it matter what kind of fabric you use??
what kind should i get??

where do you guys get the stuff for the cuffs and the bottom ???

The fabric I got was really more like soft lightweight upholstery fabric (it actually doesn't feel bead against the skin). It had almost no give when I tried to stretch it making the sewing fairly easy, but I am in the middle of helping my stepsister make a hoodie with fleece and it is not as bad as I thought it would be. The fabric for the cuffs and bottom is ribbed knitting and it can be hard to find because in most places it doesn't sell well. Try checking your big chain fabric stores for the knit rather than the small local stores. Hope this helps.

I did see yours and it was awesome. It was one of the hoodies that inspired me to make this one.

The Hoodie I'm helping my step-sister make is a Gir hoodie from invader zim. The hood's gonna have dog ears, bulgy eyes, and a little pink tongue.

I LOOOVE Invader Zim. You totally have to post pictures when you finish.

And this hoodie is fantastic. I love the pattern.

i found some ribbed knitting
the lady at the store was crazy and said they didnt carry it but i found
it

so my origianl question is...

can i use plain ol' fabric?

I'm pretty sure you can use anything you want. It doesn't have to stretch. However if you do use fabric that has a lot of stretch you'll want to be careful or things can come out very uneven.

This is so awesome, I can't even say. I love louis-esque and victorian patterns and zip up hoodies. Double fulfillment.

Here in texas, the temperature is starting to dip below 90 degrees some days... I'm gonna need to get a neat hoody soon!

And about the zim's hoodie
i found this (http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs14/f/2007/114/f/8/GIR_Hoodie_4_Men_by_OneBadHat.jpg) at deviantart a lil time ago
I think it would be really cool if the zipper ends at the top of the hood
