I made this dress using A LOT of secondhand ties, a corset and a little back dress. I made it for a local fashion show last February.

Yay, OutsaPop! We're not worthy! We're not worthy! [insert bowing down emoticon here]
Yes, yes, you should TOTALLY do a tute and submit one. I flove the tie dress and have admired it on flickr for a while now.

that's just genious!!! kudos kudos kudos to youuuu!!!
you should definitely post a tut. maybe not for the WHOLE dress, but just how you made the ties frilly and how/where you sewed them together etc.
is it lined underneath the ties or is it just one layer?

Yea that dress looks really wicked. When I saw the heading "trashion" I definately wasn't expecting something as stunning as that!

Upon viewing your glorius creation, I suddenly am overwhelmed with sadness that I sold all those halved ties in a garage sale. :(

Thank you so much for all you comments :) Iīm blushing here. Iīll try to get you more pics soon of the making-of steps and close ups. I bought about 100 ties for this project (I wanted to e able to choose the perfect color sceme) and used about 60. I have the rest in storage for later projects.
Meanwhile check out my denim tutorials on Flickr.

WOW! You truly are a master! I make stuff out of ties too. Of course I'm only 13 and I havn't been sewing as long, but I'm doing a fashion show in school and I'm making a hippie-ish top/dress. I've got about 3 huge bags of the fat part of the tie. Could I somewhat copy you idea with some parts? Not completely but a tiny bit that I'd most likely change up a bit. By the way, you are a god! No, better A GODESS! Sorry
