So I thought, since the abundance of us on these forums are a bit experienced in making stencils and what not, why not start a sharing thread?

Got a neat stencil you made that you wanna share and don't mind the other threadheads to use? Post it up.

Spot a neat stencil you think we would like? Post it up. (remember to give proper credits)

Wanna request a stencil? Post it up (the request I mean :P) ****Requests more than 30 days old WILL BE DELETED. If your request was not fulfilled and it got deleted, feel free to post it again.

BTW If you plan on just posting up a link to a outside site for stencils please post a pic or two of the stencils you like there. This is suppose to be a image heavy thread.

these are nice because they save you printer ink. if you need the black to cut it out use a sharpie, you can give them your own twist this way too :D this site has a lot of simple shapes, lots of catagories... all for the taking! hope you guys enjoy them!

I like taking the need to have connector pieces and using it to eliminate large pieces. I'm trying to get good at being as minimalist as possible.

This one isn't quite so minimalist, but there were a few major chunks I was able to remove.

Here's my first attempt at a stencil. It was inspired by Yellowcard's song "Martin Sheen or JFK" [my favorite song of my favorite band =) ]. Made an actual made a "bottle with all my mistakes" took a picture which I later traced to stencil. I also made a painting inspired but this...but that's a different story.

I kinda sprayed too much on the top and it leaked through...so I put the paper stencil over the plastic and starpied in where I needed to cut.

The lions rampant are a bit hard, so when I make it small (10 inches or so) I just draw them on with sharpie.

hey ya'll I'm on a stencil making binge lately... so here is one of the ones I just worked on tonight. It's Theresa Huston for the one woman power band Trey's Parade. She so pretty.

oh one more ^_^ Dante Basco Famous Filipino actor!!! It's his silhouette. I actually used the cardboard I was using for cutting and all the cuts made theses awesome squiggly marks in the gold spray paint. Woot woot!! I like it a lot!!

1. How do I convert it into a vector image using Paint Shop Pro 8?
2. I've been cutting my stencils out on transparency paper, the stuff that's used for overhead projectors. It seems difficult to get small detail on, even with an x-acto knife. Is there a better material to be using?

Ackbar: Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars; I added in "It's a Trap" as a subtitle under the finished product.

Thomas Cranmer: Wrote most of the Book of Common Prayer used in the Anglican Church. "Thomas Cranmer is my homeboy" was added as a subtitle. Two were made- one for me, and one as a gift for the Episcopal Bishop of Pittsburgh.

I'm pretty sure the only way your gonna be able to keep your lines thin is by getting yourself a stencil burner, you can get one at Micheal's for about $15, If they don't have one a wood burner on the thin pen tip will work too. Also I would get the thicker stencil plastic, the thin mylar stuff wont support all the bridges as well. I had to alter the teeth a bit for the bridges and its not cleaned up perfectly but it's the best I could do.

I'm making it into a shirt for the club tomorrow (yeah, I'm time crunching) so hopefully it works

Anyone have any tips on overspray? I've seen a lot of shirts that the spraypaint gets under the stencil and that's exactly what I DON'T want. I've heard something about parchment paper, but how would that work with the plastic? I would imagine that you wouldn't be able to iron the plastic for very long, if at all

Or should I just go with the cardstock idea and iron wax paper onto the back?

I think that may be a good idea

If you don't know what I'm talking about with wax paper, you can iron it onto the paper and your shirt so the stencil stays in place

Edit: Oh, and I'm going to edit the text a bit while I'm cutting. I'm getting rid of the unnecessary spaces (In the S and E) and adding the necessary ones (A, P, and R) but this was the best font I could find for the purpose. I like the wonky lines in the V, A and M

If you want any of the individual stencils to use for whatever (my favorites are the center and the one to the right) let me know. I have them all

Hi Threadheads!!! I recently been stenciling up a storm, so here are a few examples:
(I paint by hand with a fabric paint....too lazy (and broke) to go get the spray paint. I know its more work, but Im waiting for my fabric paint to run out hah)

If you select the entire picture by pushing ctrlA then if you push ctrlU it should pull up this box that has different sliders on it. You want to take the one that says saturation and drag it all the way over to the left.If you want it to be a stencil you have to do something else. Or did you want something like this?

i havnt gotten any pics of my recent stencils yet.

Right now im working on two peices. first one is a 9 colour pop at pic of a girl in an acdc shirt and the other one is a 3 colour stencil of a soldier.

and just a bit of advice ill share ^.^ ive found the perfect stencil material. only con is you can only use it once. its called ORAMASK type 813 its a see through vinal us signwritters use. it stick lightly to watever your stenciling, it doesnt bleed, and once your finnished stenciling it comes off easy. so jsut go to your local sign writer shop and buy a couple of meters its like $5 a meter. trust me its worth it!! islands in your work can stay islands! and its sooo good for detail. ok ill stop braging about it now but i only found out about this couple months ago.

Someone recently posted a stencil with a whale.

A few of the lines were too thin for me to properly cut, so I edited it in Photoshop to make the lines thicker and connected some of the islands. I'm making a 'save the whales' shirt, I'll post it when I'm done.

Brand new to this site and this is the first thread I've even looked at. Everyone is so creative and talented. I figured I'd post a picture of a shirt I just finished. It's not the most creative considering it's pretty much the exact same image as seen on the "Levi Stubbs' Tears" single cover. Oh well, I love Levi and I love Billy Bragg so I felt the need to have a shirt that expressed both loves. Oh and the yellow isn't quite that bright but that's what the flash did.

This shirt was made a long time ago and the stencil was one of the first I actually used for a shirt. It's of Glen Hansard of The Frames. In the original picture it is obvious that he has a scarf around his face but in the finished product he looks like a bandit (which I love).

Okay, for all you guys who don't have photoshop, you don't really need it.

I don't have photoshop, but there are a few programs that came with my computer (windows) that you can edit contrast and make things black and white. (For me there's windows photo gallery and office picture manager or something like that.)

Basically, all you have to do it set the contrast as high as it will go, and then make the image black and white. If it doesn't look good, you might need to screw around with the brightness settings.

Once you print it out, you there might be some islands of white, so it's prolly a good idea to make all the white connects using one of those white out pens or something. Just use good judgement and draw in areas of white or black if you think they're needed someplace. You don't have to depend on a computer for everything.

The hair prolly has a few white islands, but considering it only took like ten minutes I think it's okay.

I made these t-shirts for respective people (kids, men, women) had them printed and handed them out for christmas gifts. If you need them bigger try to message me somehow. Haazegirl at myspace. I thought they would make fairly simple stencils, but neglected to b/w them. The only one not included is a bio-hazard symbol that I printed on baby onsies that every one adores.
This one was for the guys, my hub came up with the idea the image is really quite simple though, NoPie. The mathemeticians have a field day with this one. People stop us everywhere to ask whatz up... And runs with scissors was for the kiddies, my boys look pretty cool in their two toned baseball shirts running around in them. You could also substitute different words for an idea, like cutting up the word clothing might be more appropriate for thread heads (I am fastly becoming one) And last but not least the Space Cadet shirt I used for me and my ladies, but was actually inspired by a story of a guys shirt so I mad some in more manly tees as well.

I made this stencil back in 2004 (?) to carve a jackolantern. It's rough, and I had to use a toothpick to secure his eye to the rest of his face, but it was a huge hit!

Then I made one of just him. It's a three-level stencil (you can see I mocked up how it should work. The first one should be done first with the darkest color, the second should be done second, and a medium color and the third should be done last and with the lightest color.

Here is my finished product: the Beatles on my bedroom door. I used four images I found on the internet, edited the contrast in photoshop, and then enlarged them by hand using the grid method so that John, Paul, George, and Ringo were each the size of a large piece of posterboard. Cut, spray, and BAM the Beatles in your bedroom (okay that sounds creepy). PM me if you want the small images. :D

Like with Bluebells, I dont have the time right now to finish all the islands, but here is the basic stencil, you should be able to finish working them out as you cut it. A lot of the lines around the edge that are distorted you can just cut straight, dont worry about the detail as much there.On the right arm, you might want to fix that spot also, its a little messed up from the light behind him.
