Do any of you read stitch magazine?
I love it really, the price is high, but there are 15+ patterns so it does offset that a bit. The instructions are pretty good, they have some neat articles and a nice sewing basics section, that has most of the info you'll need if you forget something basic.

I had not heard of Stitch Magazine before. I looked it up online and am really intrigued. I will have to look for it at the bookstore. I usually read Threads and Sew News and Sew Stylish Magazines. Thank you for sharing.

no prob! It is pretty nice, I tried making the messenger bag for the first issue, and, as always with my sewing project, it was incredibly temperamental. Not the fault of the magazine, just my first time using some of the techniques, and general stress from being on a tight deadline (I wanted to use it for the first few days of school.)

I just picked that magazine up last night! It's pretty good, i only got to get a quick look today. I actually never heard of it before last night. I used to read Craft and Adorn...however both of those are no longer in existence :( It seems like almost everything I read goes outta business.

Craft went out of business, no way! I've been meaning to by some back issues, had 'em on my christmas list. I hope those at least are still available.

I think the backissues are still available. I know I was disappointed to however they technically didn't go out of business.
I had a subscription with them and halfway through their third year they said due to the economy they were cutting back and so the rest of my subscription was filled in with their original magazine Make.
Make originally, from my understanding, had craft stuff in it occasionally but then grew into its own thing. According to them due to expenses it made more sense to print only one magazine and so they were just going back to Make.
Make is suppose to have some of the craft stuff combined into it again but their Craftzine website is still running. So if you just want craft you can check the site.
I know its disappointing that the magazine isn't around. I really wanted it to at least finish year three as I liked having them in the boxes and since they didn't finish no official year three box... :(

ok. Drats, that is very unfortunate, at least you still got some magazine. Anyway, after i posted, I checked on Amazon, and ordered a couple of them. Did you know that issue 3 is for some reason selling for 45 dollars?!?! needless to say, that one I am holding off on ordering.

That is expensive for one issue. How many issues are you behind? Cause you can buy them off of http://www.makershed.com/ which is their official site to buy through them.
Of course if you need specific individual issues I don't think they have those but they are selling the entire collection from start to finish for $150.
Or if you need the first four or the second four they are selling those in sets for $60..
So if you need certain chunks buying them that way might be more cost effective.

Well, i know they have them on makershed for like 14.99 an issue, last I checked, anyway. And the ones i got were on sale for $11.49, or so. So it as ending up cheaper there, the only ridiculous one was Issue 3.

I go to the craftzine.com but I still would rather have good old fashioned magazines in my hand. There were a couple other magazines I read before and they went out too. i needed some of the back issues from craft (year one) and my parents were gonna get the box set for my bday (on the makershed site) but the shipping was OUTRAGEOUS so they decided against it. I'll have to check out amazon.

I hope this link will help you then. I had to remember what issue that was and realized that it was the Japanese issue. *grin*
So I did a search and found it here: http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596513771
Seems to be a much more reasonable price.

Edit: They seem to have a few of the other issues to. And are having some kind of buy two get one free discount thing.

Ok, I checked out Stitch magazine at the bookstore last night. The most recent issue was mostly quilting. I don't know if all issues are mostly quilting or not. I am just not interested in quilting.

They do have quite a bit of quilting stuff, but they also have a lot of non-quilting stuff.
