To give an idea of scale, the band is about an inch wide. The body is aluminum cast around brass pins and an antique steel hinge. This means that it is essentially one solid piece and weighs in at in impressive twelve ounces! This was my first attempt at casting with this method, expect cleaner work in the future. It is actually quite comfortable. Aside from the weight :P

It's a perfect weapon! If I was walking alone somewhere, & someone tries to mess with me...

Maybe if you were able to make it out of something different than actual metal, something lighter that you can paint or make look metallic, it could be a lot less heavy.

I love it, it's so cool! I'd end up stabbing myself with the sides of the hinges, though. xD

Thanks for the kind words all! I hope to make some in the future that are more functional. I may hollow them out from the back to decrease weight. What would people think would be a fair price for something like this?

Your work is absolutely stunning.
It truely shows that art doesn't have to be traditionally pretty to do its job,
to bring up emotion in people.

WOW. That's cool. Mildly dangerous with those edges, but really freakin' cool. XD

You may need to cover it with some kind of shellac, as the metal may eventually oxidize and leave color on the skin of the wearer. Another option would to do cold-casting with a resin and then cover it with something like Luminore.

Great piece, though. =)

Yah, I am aware of the tarnishing issue. If this was destined to be worn, I would mask it off and spray the inside with a clear lacquer. Resin casting it would not be any fun at all, apparently you have never cast aluminum :P

I haven't, but I do have a lovely quarter-sized burn hole in my kitchen island from where my boyfriend was casting nickel-silver. Although I've never personally cast aluminum, I've been the 2nd set of hands for his projects.

If it was a one-up, I'd have done the scupltures myself. I pretty much stick to needle and thread - much less chance of getting hurt. :D
