I kinda just ordered a kilt.

If my order worked, I mean.

I hope so.

I'm supposed to be going to a semi-formal work's night out in a couple of weeks, and I was hoping to wear a kilt.

Because, you know how it is. I'm not really comfortable in semi-formal clothes.

Coffee, can you not make one?
I'm just asking, I don't know the difficulty of making kilts.

I could, I suppose.

But the thing is...

A full kilt uses 9 yards of material. I've never taken on that kind of project. I have a friend who started one over a year ago, and still hasn't been able to finish yet. And she's much more experienced than I am.

And also, I got quite a good deal, and I can always use it as a pattern for making my own at one point, anyway.

I think I'll try to get a black shirt, and maybe a leather blazer if there's one available... And then I can knit a tie to go with it, maybe with a skull motif.

Shoes are a little bit of a concern, but gents shoes are a dime a dozen.

Wish I was able to make the Teornich kilt hose from this season's Knitty, but I'm not feeling confident about it.

Addendum: seems I missed the cut-off for making sure I'd get my kilt before Xmas. Oh well! Plenty of occasion for a kilt anyways. Good casual wear, and black goes with everything. Maybe I can get away with a pair of decent jeans if they don't have holes in 'em.

People are complaining about the judges decision to place Michael Vick in jail. They say he isn't a threat to society and 2 yrs are too harsh. He basically enslave and killed dogs. I think it should be longer.

On a brighter note, my Spanish teacher finally gave me my recommendation after like a week of her forgetting. She was sick though, so no problem there. Especially sense she gave me a perfect score on the grading part and she only listed good things and she told the they'd be honored to have me. So YaY!

Nah, I only sew in my room. I seriously think someone took it. I only sew in one spot. The petal is usually on the floor, in the box, or in my special place for all my cords. Its not in any of those places, I even looked in my closet. I'm sad and I had a great idea for a project and I had already prepared the materials and everything and all I had to do was sew, but I cannot without a foot pedal.

It's not always easy answering questions. Sometimes you really have to research the answer. Then you post the answer thinking that the person will respond and ...nothing...

I hate that Kanye West stole part of their song and used it as his own. So people at my school think he is a musical genious for making up that song. Then when I let them listen to the song he took, they go, "Oh, well Kanye's better and everybody likes it better this way"

Duct Tape Dude and I are LDS (aka Mormon). Mormon kids go to something called seminary every day during high school. The two of us have to go to it at 6 AM because our areas (unfortunately) don't offer it as part of our school curriculum (which they do in Utah).

At seminary we learn about the scriptures. This year is the Old Testiment (or, at least it is in Hawaii. I don't know about elsewhere)

Ohhh! That sucks! It happened alot to me when I was younger. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, but I had to spend the night at the hospital. Now I'm used to breathing out of my mouth, speaking of that I really need to get adenoid surgery. Hey! Did you ever think of that? If your baby is having trouble breathing and is really raspy you should ask your doctor about an adenoidectomy or a tonsillectomy.

Eh? Interstella 5555? I haven't.

There was this random show on TV [we don't have cable, and I don't watch TV very much anyways] about one guy who lived in the middle of nowhere for over 30 years. It was just day-to-day life. Craziness! He was all by himself...don't think I could do that. Anyways, they added some music in the backround - Nickel Creek - so now I'm on a listening rampage ["Smoothie Song" is my fave].

I've had the same hairstyle for six years, but always with some wacky change to it. For awhile it was blue hair dye (or kool-aid dye), then for a while it was beads in about four beads throughout my hair (one of which was my moms wisdom tooth with a hole drilled through it) and now it's frizzyness. And I mean serious frizzyness. I rat it and hairspray it. Sometimes I leave it loose and other times I put it up in a twist or a bun or whatever.

I think I said this before, but a couple of years ago I went to Europe with my school and we saw squirrels in Greenwich. All of the kids from here started freaking out and taking pictures, while all the kids from Texas (who were on the same tour as us) were just looking at us like we were freaks.

Then again, a lot of people looked at us like we were freaks in Europe.

FOOD. :) They like food. Walnuts, Almonds, Pecans, Cashews, Black Sunflower Seeds.

Oh, and it helped that we gave Mama Squirrel some paper towels to build her nest with. They like paper towels as nesting material. If you ever see squirrels rip into the seatcushions of patio chairs, they're trying to build their nests with the fluff inside.

Oh, and DO NOT hand-feed squirrels until you know what you're doing. Because squirrels' eyes are on the sides of their heads, their depth perception close-up is very poor. They can easily mistake your fingertip for an almond and bite you accidentally. Not trying to be mean, but more of an "oops" moment. My bf taught me that one. He's the Squirrel Whisperer.

mmm
chocolate makes me feel less sick :)

mmmm....chocolate always makes me feel better. at least for a few minutes anyway and then I have to have another piece.

I bought a toblerone bar to use in a chocolate fondue on Christmas Eve, but I started eating it -so I had to buy another one....

geez, I just had to go take another piece of it after writing this.... bad, bad, bad!

I made a messenger bag for my boyfriend and I gave it to him toay
he LOVED it

sadly, no pics.
but a good description...?
its orange, with dark blue camo lining... on the flap, I screen printed a silhouette of a skater doing a grab (his arm's up in the air)...and there's a basketball embroidered near him (as if he threw it...cause he did xD)
on the actual bag, there's clear vinyl, which is in the shape of a basketball net...it's actually a pocket for him iPod nano (found on the inside)...you can see the screen through the basketball net
on the other side of it, is his basketball name embroidered..on top of a pumpkin (dunno why, but he likes em) :)

then I stuffed it with a black book, an art set, and CHOCOLATE!

Wow! I wanna be your boyfriend! That bag sounds awesome!
..only problem is I'm female and married....

Toblerones are chocolate, and some sort of honey-crispy stuff, and almonds. Er, not condoms. (?) Maybe it was the packaging?

Any pics of the beta?

And - does anyone want to go to Ace Hardware for me? I need to pick up like 3 bottles of Foaming Pipe Snake, and I don't wanna leave the house b/c I'm lazyyyy. I'm boiling pots of water and putting 'em down the shower drain to help it along a bit.

No? Nobody wants to pick up stuff from Ace Hardware for me? Aw, come on!!! Please please please please please - no? OK. Shoot.

Oh, and i have a wicked stitch in my side from all that lettuce edging last week - I think stretching the material over and over in the same motion did it. So I have a stitch in my side from, uh, stitching. Which is why I don't wanna go to Ace Hardware. Maybe I should just take the Granny Shopping Cart, instead of tryin to lug it home.

What do I do now that Christmas is over? For months everything has been building up to Christmas and now that it's over I feel like I don't have a mission... Does anyone else feel this way? I have lots of stuff I should be doing, but somehow I just can't get motivated..... *sigh*

I just need to get out of this post-Christmas slump.

Maybe arranging stuff will help cut thru the post-Christmas letdown (TM Charlie Brown).

Like, sorting buttons or trims or something. I sorted buttons on xmas day as part of my "keep busy" things to do. I think sorting buttons is fun, though. I didn't outgrow that!

As you all probally know, Jamie Lynn Spear is pregnant at age 16 and she is keeping it. She is on Nickelodeon on the show, "Zoey 101". Now I would love to know what they are going to do with the show to hide the she is pregnant. I just found out, they plan on acting like she is leaving the school, now if she comes back that is my next question! That is truly sad tha she is pregnant and a role-model to thousand of children.

ladyjanewriter
12-28-2007, 05:53 PM
No different than a good chunk of girls in my HS class, honestly. (Pregnancy rates in Pennsylvania for HS girls were historically high when I went to HS.)

I think she can save herself as a role model if she goes to college or something. Picks a nice interesting major, and raises the kid. If she was smart, she'd do some sorta entertainment business management manager. She seems...smarter than Britney. I think the family ignored her long enough that she didn't absorb the family pathology too bad.

And, do I have to be at work right now? I really don't feel like it. Where's my teleporter? My tardis?

I want to pick up a cheeseburger and fries after work...but it'll just be cold by the time I schlep it home.

We are 7 yrs apart. I remeber when were in summer camp. Ugh. Ugh, how I hated that place! There was this one boy who spoiled and had anger issues (You know the brat in the store who starts screaming and crying for candy). So it was my turn to get on the swing, he told me to move and I said no. Soooo he threw sand in my eyes and I got in trouble. Don't ask me how I got in trouble. It was probally because his mom worked there and the counselers didn't dare say anything to her about her devil-of-a-child.
