It seems as though people on the forums are becoming too relient on everybody else for idea. Everyday there is a few thread on what they should do with the stuff they have. DIY is supposed to be on what you what it to be. They should use Threadbanger as inspiration, not a strict guide. If they use it as a strict guide they do-it-yourself will be taken out of DIY.

@saintlike: There are a lot more threads asking for ideas, but sometimes ideas are hard to come by when you're sopped of inspiration. XD It usually seems like when they do make something though, it's a little different than what someone suggested. There's a ton of ideas floating around on here, there's bound to be repetition...but yeah, you've got a strong point.

Yea that is what I'm saying. You should use it as inspiration, not wait until everybody tells you what to do.
Congrats on the hoodie and seeing your sister. I was in the middle of making my hoodie. Yet, my sewing machine was acting stubborn. Don't worry though, Kate came to the rescue with her thread on what to do when your sewing machine isn't happy.

Well, there are some non-competitive ones, but this was an inter-scholastic competition. The poetry teams from a bunch of different high schools came to compete. It's not really a competitive atmosphere though... Everyone was really encouraging to the other teams. There were 5 or so judges from Youth Speaks, which is a slam poetry organization.
Yeah. It was super fun. Sorry for the late reply, It's 1:00 in the afternoon and I just woke up. I was at the poetry slam last night until about midnight.

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING IS A RANT!
My teacher surprises us with a project one day in class. Then like next day he is like, "Surprise! Your project is do in a half hour" then he laughs. Then next day in class he goes' "Now, you have two days to organize a informational brochure on ______ theater and create a skit about it and assign roles and make lines then memorize lines then make costumes about your time period and be ready to present."
Then he hits us with, "Your group all gets the same grade and if one person does bad you all get the bad grade"
Normally this wouldn't be to bad, if it hadn't been that the boy that I always work with hadn't picked the worst person in the class. Its not even that she is a bad actor, she is just lazy and refuses to work when she doesn't like the project.
Rant over!

Ugh... I hate teachers like that. My science teacher is kind of like that. He'll give us a really complicated test, and then about a minute later, he'll say, "Okay, turn it in," when, obviously nobody's done. When someone asks for more time he says, "Nope, and it's too late for you to turn it in. Too bad."

I don't think I'm destined for great things. Just odd things.
Whenever I think about work, I can't help myself from thinking, y'know... I should be out there doing something... Weird.
I knitted scarves for some of the girls at work. They asked for them. They're pretty good. The Keyhole Scarf I've shown before was one of them, the other one was in the same vein, slightly different size and colours. Everybody was impressed. I'm charging them two pints each to cover the cost of yarn.
I also have the urge to travel. I'd like to try living in the states.

Actually, I live very close to the original Houston, in Scotland. It's so-named because the Houston family owned the whole town. It was one of their sons who went to the US and founded the city in Texas.
I dunno. I'm attracted to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
But I suppose Washington state wouldn't be too different from here.
I have never eaten a Twinkie.
Ironically, I was on the American Football team at University. This wasn't hard, as we didn't have enough players for a full team anyway.
I've never eaten a Twinkie either - I doubt we're missing much!

It's also why I spell Colour with a U.
But, y'know, a chance'd be nice. I used to live down the street from an American Deli, which is where I got my KILLER Chile Con Carne recipe. But I'm generally... Very confusing, or very confused. I apparently sound variously Irish, American, Canadian, and Kiwi. I've been mistaken for a Maori on two separate occasions.
But still, not being in the States hasn't stopped me from drinking Mad Dog! Whoooooooooooooooooooo that's good Paint Stripper!

Can x-acto blades cut fabric. It would seem so much easier if they could... I'm gonna try it.
I would imagine there would be lots of pulling and drag if you cut fabric with an x-acto blade. But they make rotary cutters for cutting fabric which make cutting a dream. Since it rolls over the fabric it doesn't pull it.

Other reason for freakout - THE FOO FIGHTERS ARE COMING TO WHERE I LIVE! *dancing in glee* My friends mom has some hookups or something, so she's going to get us tickets. I'M SO EXCITED! XD

OMG!!!!!!!!
I was sewing and the thread kept popping out and hitting me. It not the fact that it was hitting me, more than the fact that after like every 10 stitches I had to re-thread it. I changed the thread to the good stuff. First it cuts better and doesn't fray. Two it stopped poping and now my stitches are tight. All that time all I had to do was put in a different spool. Now I now not to buy that cheap kind.

Well, any kind of sexual relationship's legality would be generally considered to be subjective rather than objective, depending on the relative ages. Statutory rape is the general verdict on all underage relationship, except where covered by a Romeo & Juliet law. That's the case as to a physical sexual relationship, there's generally no such exemption granted where images are considered; they're all considered child pornography, regardless of the initial recipient.
Coffee's right, ya know. Child pornography is no joke!

You have to be right, you used big words. What is the Romeo & Juliet law?
Romeo and Juliet Laws are fairly local laws which govern the general legal response to an underage sexual relationship. Whereby, they tend to apply an age difference which they will respect as being healthy in terms of a sexual relationship.
So in some states, it's illegal to have sex under 18, but if you were 17 and had sex with your 18 year old boyfriend, he likely wouldn't be prosecuted for rape for it.

I was born in the 80s.
Think about it.
Also, I just can't stop knitting! Haven't picked out a major project yet. I'll need to pick one soon, though. 'Course, me and a friend are going to make Skull Kilts at the same time, but until then, I'm just knitting around. Made a nice unusual scarf with Banana yarn, BO'ed on it last night. Added a little YO row, and used some K2Ts to decrease it along one side, so it came out assymetrical and funky.
Right now I'm throwing 3 balls of novelty yarn together 5 stitches wide, and it'll probably come out a bit odd. Might throw in YO rows.
Did an interestingly net-like scarf with a skein of black denim yarn and some silver/white yarn I had lying around for colour. Came out quite interesting. Can also be used to trap small animals and fish.

My school sucks. As long as the seniors have money for their prom and trips and the athletic teams has money, they don't care. There is no funding for theatre, arts, or anything else. This is why I don't participate in fund-rasing, because they tell you who is getting the money. We had this fund-raiser, were we all put in change in our grade bucket and then after we all put in all our money, thinking we as a grade were going to get something, they tell us the seniors get it for their trips.

Yea, It is supposed to be like that. All the other clubs have to earn their own money. The people on the SGA though, chose to do alot of fund-raiser just for sports and seniors. So people in sports and people that are seniors, don't have to raise any money, because the student government doe it for them. Basically the SGA (Student Goverment) raises money, they get to choose how they spend it. Guess who they spend it on???

ooh, hmm..
cause ours is the SCA (Student Campus Representatives..?) well...anyway, that's combining freshmen class president (and all) with the SCHOOL president (and all) - which are seniors
so they get money for everyone I believe

Yea, we have freshmen representatives too, but they are all on sports teams. So they agree with them. So basically it like a compromise between the freshmen-junior and the seniors. They all get money for sports and the seniors get money for prom and trips. While the rest of school wallows in misery because they were born late or are not athletic.

And I'm smurfed off about my job. Not because the job is bad, but because I don't see a road out that I'll accept.
I could get a better job by:
a) going back to school (not going to happen, because a; money, and b; inclination)
b) going corporate
c) insert other choice here
I don't know. I don't have a career. And if I had a career, I'd want it to be something I enjoyed, or was good at, or at least that I knew would still be a marketable skill if I needed it to be.
But I'll be damned if I make personal development plans. What the smurf good are they to anybody? Having a plan is only good if you stick to it, and whjat's the use in trying to plan out what kind of skills you'll need? I was sick of education because it was saying one thing but doing the opposite. I was learning that we were supposed to free our minds to learn in our own ways.
And getting homework assignments and group projects and essays to write about how we were going to learn in our own ways!

Yesterday, whilst running to the bus stop in fearing of missing the school transportation system. I ripped my jeans, so I had to run back home. Whilst in a hurry to switch jeans, I ripped them further. Now my favorite pair of jeans have a huge rip going up the leg. I would have sewed them up, but I'm scared it is going to have this huge, awkward, noticeable seam going up one leg.

Thing is...
You will use them, if you study more about maths. The amount of work you do with ANYTHING you learn is actually minimal.
But what you're learning in school is the basis for more advanced learning in the same subjects.
But I got sick of formal education because my college became too... Touchy-feely without backing it up.
I don't understand why they switched over a perfectly servicable and useful elective module each year in exchange for bland pop-psychology about learning to learn, without any understanding of WHY we learn as we do.

I don't think that's true regarding mathematics. The real problem is that specialized fields particularly in sciences are being short-changed because they are advertised as being for "smart people" and "nerds who do nothing but science 24/7" or are "boring" and "just too hard." The reality is that being in the science, research, or medical fields is really no different than any other job, except that a lot of your training is done in school rather than all on-site.
At least in the US, through reputation, heavy (artificial) competition, and implicit discouragement, kids today are put on an assembly line ending in a generic cubicle answering phones or in a fast food restaurant -- for the most part, a waste of human potential. The fact that calculus is still taught in high school is a residue of a more ambitious past. That most students don't even know why they are being taught such things is proof of this. Soon, the average high school will only teach the average student just enough to be an obedient cog in some corporation, stuck with no way out because of inevitable credit card debt.. what a shame.
And yeah, pop-psy is icky. Sociology is much more interesting anyway :p

Well I did a lot when I was doing my degree in physics, and I still do now that I'm doing a second degree in civil engineering. And my little sis uses them too, for she did a degree in math and a master in meteorology in order to be meteorologist (she's planning a bit more studies to become a climatologist soon... I'm so proud of her!!!)
but I guess we're freaks!!! (we both love maths)
No, we're not freaks. But if maths won't be directly useful in your adulthood, remember that while you learn them, you brains develops some analysing capacities and those you'll need to succeed in whatever you chose to do. Oh! and science pple don't need to be boring geeks : look at Jelfish and I :)

It makes me sick how they single people out for torture, like a hawk preying on food. Yet, the teachers all seem to think, "Boys will be boys".
