I actually liked Repo less than I thought I would.
Sing-speaking does not equal musical.

Schoenberg invented sing-speaking and called it sprechstimme, which could feasibly be adopted for a modern musical. but if you don't know about expressionism, i guess it would be pretty annoying.

Had a major WTF moment at the grocery store today. I bought a bunch of groceries, all food items, and paid for them with my food stamp card. No biggie... the cashier says that will be 3 cents. I'm confused, food stamps cover all food except prepared hot food like rotisserie chickens and things like alcohol and non food things like soap. I didn't buy any of those items. I bought a 2L of soda and used a coupon. The cashier said that I was charged the 3 cents for using the coupon.. WTF??? It was only 3 cents but since when do you have to pay to use a coupon? One would logically assume that using government money to purchase food, they would encourage the use of coupons to stretch your food dollar. I paid it and didn't argue but I left the store bewildered. I need to ask someone in social services or a manager at the grocery store what is going on with that.

I don't use a lot of coupons but I like to save money like everyone else, even when it isn't actually my money. Has anyone else heard about this???

well it's over...and no one died
company came and left...and it was only mildly akward with everyone staring but not saying anything about my lip ring....other than that we had a good time , bought some fabric to make dd a quilt for her bday this summer (like she needs another...but she LOVES tea parties and quilting so when I saw a pattern with tea pots and cups all over it...and then cherry and blueberry fabric I had to get it for her)
now we all get to go do the dentist tomorrow!!! I LOOOOVVVVEEEE going to the dentist...and it'll be fun cause it's the 2yr ds first time going...(he needs an xray cause he's missing a tooth (it never came in))

well, I think that the music just didn't fit into the story, or else it was too loaded. "Sound Of Silence" for a funeral? "99 Lufteballon" for an intimate dinner scene? What it needed was to give up on the idea of being a movie set in the 80s, and embrace that it was a movie about nostalgia for a bygone era, and the loss of innocence.

Gosh, it feels so weird being back on the forums, but I've been so busy writing a 2000 word essay on the effects of natural selection on the Mirounga angustirostris (northern elephant seal) that I haven't had time for anything.

I cannot WAIT for spring break, because my mom has scheduled classes for me to learn how to use my sewing machine. I cannot decipher the manual. It couldn't be harder for me to understand if it were in Japanese. And it's not, I checked.

Our school just moved into this building this year, so there are still some things we haven't figured out yet.

in theory you can fight them...but none of the meds seem to work for me (unless they can knock me out for at lest 6 hrs..and that's getting increasingly hard to do the more migraines I have....I'm building up a tolorance to the most meds) add to that I"m nursing a baby and I can't take most of the meds cause they're not good for her.....and my usual trick of ODing on caffine also is not a good idea for her...and I just suffer thru..if I'm not better by tomorrow I might call the dr and see what he recomends.

Had. I had surgery yesterday for my deviated septum. While I was out they intubated me.


So my nose doesn't hurt at all, even though they broke the bone & the whole deal. It's my thoat that kills. They apparently just shoved that thing down there with no regard to my pain. My family looked at the back of my thoat & they said there is a huge scrape down it.

It kills. I never want a breathing tube again!

ahhh yes...yeah after the initial break noses don't hurt too much (more the bruising around the break hurts) I"ve broken my nose twice...the last time on a door knob....which is NOT a story they belive in the ER!! LOL

I realized that my classmates are killing themselves over material that is actually pretty easy (at least for me) and they worry too much over the minute details that aren't going to be covered on the test. We have about 300 pages of information to cover and they are discecting ever single word in the chapter and the test only has 60 questions.

I won't be doing that again. I'm not good in groups anyway.

pinyin is a standardized phonetic system. if you know how to pronounce words in pinyin, than you can read it. if all you know is english, then pinyin will be totally foreign. it is possible to englishize mandarin if you already know mandarin.
