I'm sorry you're having a hard time, Goofi.

& btw, I LOVE the red skirt you have on your etsy. I would buy it if I wasn't broke. & if it fit me, which I haven't the foggiest if it does or not.

yea, thanks =]

I'd lower it, but I don't wanna get too cheap
in the etsy forums, a lot of people say that if something's too cheap, people might see that as a "you get what you pay for" kinda thing, so..

I'd wear it to school to advertise, but it's getting really warm fast ! (the skirt's a wool blend I believe, heh)

I basicly have no money so it's not really that it's too high, but that it has a price at all >_>

Ok, so I have money, but it's for important stuff & my measly source of income might dissapear soon so I'm not buying anything excessive lately.

It's not as hard as I thought but it does suck.

I need a real job. This summer it's gonna happen. Yay! Another summer job!......not.

The last summer job I had was at a summer camp teaching theater. It was so taxing being with a bunch of five year old that didn't listen all day DX

The nation's economy is in the pooper, but my city is doing especially badly, so I think I'll take what I can get even if I have to work in fast food (which is something I decided never to do a while back...righhhtt).

I know! People always tell me to sell my stuff, but it's not like it's a steady income...

& I'm still finishing up HS, so I feel like I have no spare time to sew stuff to sell. I don't know how you do it, Goofi.

& I'm thinking of not really doing my etsy until I'm 18 in May, because in my city when you start a bussiness you have to do all this official stuff & I don't even know if I can while I'm a minor. I don't want to open my whole deal under my parents & then have to switch it over to my name two months later....

I'm complaining a lot today.

Life is good, though.

IRS states that the self employment tax is somewhere around 50% of your profits
I don't like how high that is...
I talked to some people, and for taxes, I'm fine, cause I only have to collect taxes from people in VA

I dunno about your state, but in my state, you can legally own it as a minor, your parents just sign it
The thing is, I don't think I wanna do that yet
Considering the fact that I use my name... And I wouldn't really have to worry about someone registering their business as "ShilynJoy"
Well, not at the moment,... I figure I'll do it after I get some money, if I'm serious about it

I know plenty of people who start selling clothes and stuff "underground" before they make it legal...

My English teacher is stupid...
Omg. Instead of actually giving us the book to read, she lets us watch the movie and then expects us to write an essay on it. Thats all fine and dandy, expect its soo hard to develop when the plot of the movie is so underdeveloped. She even said her self that they left out too much stuff. Yet she still gives us essay topics designed for when you actually read the book! You know just about nothing about the characters. Its ridiculous. I'm using Spark Notes for the book, but I can't include most of the stuff, because it wasn't on the movie and she knows I didn't read the book, so she'll question where I got it from. This is ridiculous.

Any who here is my two cents:
The latest in NYC fashion can only objectively be judged from Wallowa County Oregon! Yea, that rights population 800 peeps. Where Cowboys, loggers, Brewers, the economically depressed, and converge in DIY fashion. But stemming out of a presupposition of Triune aesthetics, where fine fabrics are a way of life when living on horseback, running a chain saw or brewing in rubber boots requires the finest of heirlooms quality fabrics.

You're already much better off then people who think they are awesome parents but have their head so far up their butt they arn't all that great.
No one is prepared to be a great parent, they work at it and try to do their best.

My sleep schedule is way way way off.
So I'm forcing it to get back on track and that means depriving myself of sleep now.
I end up going to bed at like 1:00 am and then get back up at 6:00 and then crash when I come home.
So I'm not going to crash today, instead I'll bore myself into doing homework for like 4 straight hours. Then when 11:00 rolls around, I'll be fast asleep and all is well again.
Except, I would give my left leg for a nap right now.

No it doesn't hurt it is just annoying. They do put drops in your eyes to dilate them but they don't hurt. You are just blurry and and light sensative for a couple of hours.

I've worn glasses or contacts since I was 10 to this is just one of those things that you do every year or so that isn't fun but isn't too traumatic.

you get used to it. it's all about repitition.
when I first started using contacts I would alway end up blinking when I'd go to put them in. lol It took alot of practice to make my eye stay open. it doesn't bother me now. you catch on pretty quickly.
also if the eye doc is putting the drops in it's almost easier because you don't have to watch youself do it. Look to the side and try to ignore the doc.

I've worn glasses or contacts since I was 10 to this is just one of those things that you do every year or so that isn't fun but isn't too traumatic.

I've had glasses since like 3rd grade..yay and I"ve had contacts since 2003 but I don't wear them much (I can feel them on my eye the entire time and it's irritating, dh wishes I'd wear them more tho) and it takes like 5 min to get them in. at the end of the day when I take them out my eyes go "ahhhh"

also if you suffer from migraines then getting your eyes dilated is iffy...so be careful, and they only NEED to do it about every 3-5 yrs if your test is clear and you have no family history for eye defectiveness (I asked how often I HAD to get it done because it was SOO traumatic the first time (also found out the hard way that if you suffer from migraines this is NOT such a good thing to have done) there is a new machine out that can check for the same things but doesnt' require dilating your eyes first you can ask your Dr if he has it)
and if you wear contacts on a regular basis then you have to get your eyes checked and get your prescription updated once a year. I can wear the same glasses for a few years usually (get tired of looking at them after about 3 yrs) and I make a box of contacts last 2 yrs instead of 1 cause I don't wear them that often

Yeah...I'm always making akward references to people I know online while trying not to really reveal that I am, since not too many of my face-to-face friends are forum users & such, & it's hard to explain.

Yeah...I'm always making akward references to people I know online while trying not to really reveal that I am, since not too many of my face-to-face friends are forum users & such, & it's hard to explain.

Some stupid teen vitamin company has this advertisement, and i"m kinda like WTF every time I see it.
They have boy and girl vitamins.
Apparently the boy vitamin does stuff for the "important" stuff in a boys life, like muscles.
And the girls, healthy skin.

So healthy skin is only important for girls? And muscles for boys.
So if I wanted healthy skin, but didn't really care about muscles, would I be stuck taking the girl vitamins?

Yay!
Gay marriage is being debated in MD now.
But we do have a lot of homophobes. A lot.
So I doubt anything good will come out of it, but atleast we are talking about it and not acting like it doesn't exist.

This republican guy came on the news saying that, "marriage between a man and woman is the moral standing of society and we can look back in history and see that is the case."
Uh, he must not have taken History in school. Because homosexuality was accepted in quite a few places in society.
Well, until the Church was established. Assholes. Keep in mind that these are the same people that sold you "tickets" into "heaven", aka indulgences.

Don't I know that. I thought by this point in my life, I'd be out of customer service but no matter what field I go into, it all boils down to customer service. I worked for 20 years in restaurants filling every position from server to manager. I'm currently doing medical billing and I'm going to nursing school. Define modernism for me, emphasizing the differences between modernism and postmodernism.

madonnaontherocks
03-14-2009, 12:22 AM
Webster's describes modernism as:

" Modernism The deliberate departure from tradition and the use of innovative forms of expression that distinguish many styles in the arts and literature of the 20th century"

Post modernism:

"Of or relating to art, architecture, or literature that reacts against earlier modernist principles, as by reintroducing traditional or classical elements of style or by carrying modernist styles or practices to extremes"

Thank you. It's no help whatsoever, but I knew that the quest was futile when I asked. :) Hey, it gave you something to do.
The trouble is that NO ONE can define modernism. Everyone agrees that it is a somewhat undefined term.
I've just read a long book titled/about Modernism, in which the term was never defined (nor was the obscenely brazen title explained adequately), and in fact, the closest the author came was to say that it hasn't got a proper definition. Oh the irony.

Thank you anyway. :P

hows the qualtiy?

Oh, it LOOKS gorgeous.

But it's not really Watchmen. It's too bogged down in the same ideas about Superheroes which the original graphic novel bucked.

That's the difference to me... I watched Repo about 4 times in a row, learned some of the songs, looked up the Making Of videos. And I'd recommend it to almost anyone.

Watchmen... meh.

they had a good half, half dozen good songs and put on a fabulous live performance i respect that.

and i feel the same way about the rocky horror soundtrack.

I want to know when my 7 year old started thinking that boredom was fatal. As soon as she gets the slightest bit bored, she start whining like she is going to die.

My eldest's boyfriend broke up with her then 4 days later, they are back together. I was hoping the breakup would stick.

I'm fixing Jambalya for dinner tonight in my crockpot. It smells sooooo good. I left the shrimp out because my oldest dd doesn't like it. Her boyfriend is kind of excited, I guess he doesn't get many "fancy"/"interesting" meals.

I felt that things were pretty well represented, generally.

As far as modern day big screen "musicals" go, I felt it was very strong.
