I was sitting at my desk this morning enjoying my tea when I suddenly realized I wasn't drinking tea....

I had already finished a cup earlier and was boiling water to refill it. I was actually just enjoying the left over flavour in my mouth but totally thought I was actually drinking tea. I think I need more sleep.

on a side note...you know if you've been sitting in your sewing chair too long if.....
when you stand up it takes a minute for you legs to unbend
when you go to sit in a different chair and it HURTS to do so (cause the pressure is in a different place)
when you're at the dinning room table and you reach for either the iron or your scissors
you dream about sewing the project you left unfinished to get some sleep
you need an alarm clock to tell you when to take a break

no, i have class monday through thursday... my calendar starts on sunday... probably should have mentioned that lol. but friday's off isn't bad at all :D but knowing me i'll probably just go home or relax on fridays...

tuesday and thursdays are just PACKED... only 30 minutes for lunch (gotta go find a cool lunch box)... and i get out at like 8:30...

then monday Wednesday i have an acting class at 8am.

Problems with certain classes:
Acting [required]: 8am? i will NEVER get up :/
and i have stage fright... O_O

Costume Construction [required]: This class is gonna rock!!! unfortunately word around theatre town says that it takes up a lot of your time more than the 2.5 hours of class time.

Fundamentals of Drawing: awesome, im going to finally learn how to draw... but i also think that there will be lots of drawing assignments that will take up my free time.


those are really the only three i am worried about... just because they take up more than just the class time... last semester i pretty much made straight C's and my GPA is a 2.2

im already on theatre probation because i didn't make an average of a B- in my theatre classes... and if my grandfather doesnt like my grades then he'll stop paying tuition like he did for my cousin josh. :/


i mean i just have to buckle down and get to work... im just scared of failing. I've always had pretty bad grades since middle school... and i've developed some horrible procrastination habits.

you should make your tuesdays and thursdays between class really productive homework wise. that way when you get out of class at 530pm on tuesday, the next day's homework is already done. and the next day, you don't do any homework because it's not due until friday, and you have that huge block of time on thursday to do friday's homework.

ok...it's pretty ugly. but it might force you to manage your time better?

on mondays and fridays i have class from 9am-10am. those will not be productive days for me :O

My schedule for classes is screwed

Mon and wed Fundamental of nursing Lecture 8:30-11 am
mon nights nursing clinicals 2-10pm
thurs nights nursing clinicals 2-10 pm
tues Yoga 2-4pm

all of that is workable until the middle of the semester when my clinicals change to tues and thursday mornings from 7am-3:30pm which overlaps my yoga class. I have been up onside and down the other looking for another class to take the place of yoga and I can't find anything that is offered as either an independant study or on fridays. I really need that extra class because otherwise I don't qualify for full finacial aid. Grrrr!!!

Another Grrr! thing my dog woke me up at 4 am and I couldn't go back to sleep. So I got up 2 hours earlier than I needed to this morning......

but as soon as i applied the littlest pressure it broke... i just bought it! and then the other day i went for my really nice peeler (soap again) and when i went to pull it out of the drawer it fell into 2 pieces WTF. so i held the little cutty part and peeled like that for a week intill i got the new (now broken) one and then i tossed it so now i'm in the exact same boat but with a duller peeler blade :(

Like two days ago, my sister comes into my room and is like, "Uh. Could you possibly fix my pants, I need them for work."
Then my mother is like beating around the bush, "Yeah, I bought a shirt, but it doesn't fit right, too big. Yeah, but I don't wanna take it back. I don't know what I'm going to do with it..." then she finally just asks if I could fix it for her.

Not so girly anymore, huh?!

but you could have used a cheese grater (the box kind with the 3or 4 different sized holes) if you're going for just grated and not like big fancy flakes....

no it's not the one that's going on my bed..this was just a project to use up some scrap fabric and give me practice with different techniques.
the curved pieces were not hard...if you've ever put a sleeve in a top then you can do curved edges..you just have to pin the holy heck out of it and go slowly.
I wouldn't know where to begin with making a tut for something like this..since each square is different.
I was thinking about posting a tut on how to make a "charm" quilt (like the one my kids made for the baby, and the fall colored one I did to put on the table) it's easy and dooable in one day (well making the top anyway)

I had a dream last night that the executive director and 2 devision supervisors came to my house to sleep in my room. two shared a bed and one slept on the floor.
there was also a little girl sleeping on a duffle bag. apparently one of the womens daugter.
Basically I got up to go to work and they moved into my room to sleep.
It was a very odd dream lol.

Quilts are easier to make than they are to repair. My daughter has a quilt (origins unknown) given to her by my friend. The top is mostly polyester but a few blocks were cotton. The cotton ones didn't hold up to the abuse my daughter inflicted on the blanket and tore so I replaced them. this would have been easier if I had totally disasembled the blanket but that was too much for 3 blocks so they were hand sewn in. My stiches show but the quilt is pretty homely anyway and this isn't the first repair done to it. It is pretty old and like I said the origins are unknown.

i like watching video tutorials. i found a series of clips from expert village on how to make a "flared" skirt, and not only was i disappointed, i was horrified. watch this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T04wicKQ1ls&feature=related).

the girl (her name sounds like candycane cansew) drags on and on, describing every minute movement and decision she makes, as though it's for someone who has never sewn clothes before, but she doesn't bother defining basic terms like seam allowance, and she acts like hemming is a handy trick that she came up with herself. her finished project, shown in this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8CnBb28MJo&feature=channel), is nothing that you'd imagine a flared skirt to look like. it's much straighter than even an a-line skirt, and the slight difference in the width of the panels hardly accounts for the shape of your legs, much less creating any amount of flare.

the purpose of this rant? there are a lot of totally subpar videos on the net for making your own clothes. the only ones that i've learned anything from are associated with threadbanger. threadbanger does way more for inspiring and teaching about making clothes than anything else that makes videos on the subject. does anyone else feel like there's a lack of video resources for diyers at the intermediate level? rob and corinne and meg seem like pioneers in the area. i want more, but they're already in such high demand. i almost want to take matters into my own hands, and video document my experiments with pattern construction for original designs. i feel like i could do a way better job than that chick (blech) making videos targeted for non-n00bz. i think i could provide better design ideas and pattern elements without spending 2 minutes drawing a trapezoid.

is there demand for those kinds of video tutorials? is there supply (in addition to tb, i just need MORE) that i've failed to find? i wouldn't be capable of a full on webisode, nor would i feel like competing with threadbanger's existing almightiness in the field, but i think i can help contribute to the technical aspects of clothing construction, especially where people are moving just beyond the basics. what do you think? should i do it?

so the otherday i was reading some fourm or comment i cant remeber it was late at night, anyways it was about ppl knitting graffede for trees. and then when i was going to sleep i though that some one should make one of thoughs with like arms comming out of it and on the from it says free hug. i woulnder if any one would huge the tree? I think i would only if my friends were there to hug it with me. if i have time im totaly going to make it and put up at my school haha. :D

i went to a show tonight, it was only a dollar to get in.

ended up getting a free shirt by this band if i got slapped in the face. It was awesome :D and i got free clothes.

afterwards the band went outside in the back where all the kids were hanging out and we all just chilled together and sung songs on acoustic while we waited for the next band to play.


then i got back on my side of town around midnight and went on an adventure with a friend of mine for tacos, then we fed a stray cat bacon and named it "porch kitty" (since we were sitting on the porch at this starbucks). i finally went home at 3am.

yep... now when my parents ask me why i got home so late i can tell them that i got distracted by a cat and fed it bacon.... for three hours....


Question for ThreadBanger Moms/Dads:

I've noticed that... my parents always think im up to no good when i come home with a normal explanation, like if i tell them i went to a friends house to hang out/watch movies... they suspect drinking. but if i come home and say something like "i found a playground and a treasure map!" or "i chased a stray cat around a parking lot with a tray of bacon!" they just stop asking questions...

is it just because they are creeped out? they are used to my creepyness? they dont bother to claim ive been doing drugs or drinking cause i must obviously be on something to come up or even do things like that?

arg. i hate dumping my problems on other people. but i need to vent (like that's never the case) but i really really need some advice from someone, anyone.

1. my best friend from kentucky (let's call him E) is in love with me. he keeps saying how he needs me and that he loves me so much and all that. the thing is, after my first boyfriend (let's call him K), i don't think i can handle another long distance relationship. he even applied to a college in my state to try to be closer to me. i love him, he's been there for me for 6+ years now, but he's always been my best friend and i can't stand the distance.

2. august-september i met with this guy (he'll be R). we started hanging out a lot and i started falling in love with him. that's when i realized i had to leave K. i deserved better than a guy that called me up, threatening to kill himself if i left him and trying to work me like a horse to become some genius like him(which is exactly what K did). i was really happy with R. until as we were leaving his house to go get some sushi, i met his dad, who thought I was too young. (i'm 17, R is 21). R decided to stop things with me just because his dad said now. then a week later i found out he's still in love with his ex. not from him though, from his site. he couldn't even tell me himself. i barely seen or spoke to him in the 4 months since then. now he starts talking to me again, telling me he still has feelings for me, that he's finally straightened himself out. he wants to hang out every day, and i get that overwhelming vibe that he's trying to get back together with me. i hung out with him 2 days ago, and i found out i still have these lingering feelings for him, because when i was hanging out with him, i missed the feeling of being with him.

3. the guy i have feelings for now (A), he might be moving to florida in march. but he's not sure. we clicked pretty quick. we talk all the time, hang out when we can, always want to be with each other. and i'm trying real hard not to fall for him but i think i am anyway. i can't because he might be going away and he said that he's not sure if he's ready for a relationship cuz he just ended a 3 year thing with his ex.

so i'm best friends with E. R is my ex who's trying to get back in my life. and i'm trying not to fall in love with A, who i love being with, but have this haunting feeling that even if he doesn't move, he still wouldn't want to be with me. idk what to do! ARGGGGG!!!

My best friend recently told me that, and I didn't know what to say, and even though I feel kinda weird talking to him about my boyfriend, nothing's changed much. At least you know your best friend loves you; some people never find out about those things.

the easiest way to learn a language, is to isolate your communication down to that language, and surround yourself with the people that speak it fluently. you can probably take a class to learn the basics, join an online community for people to learn/teach different languages to one another (i found one before, i don't remember what it was), and once you get to that country, i'm sure you'll flow into it smoothly, although with a few bumps at first, but you'll get into it. my french teacher studied in france and that's how she learned it.

my friend did a foreign exchange student thing and she didn't know anything when she went to turkey but spoke the language fluently within 4-6 months. she also took french lessons for years and said that trying to memorize a language is so incredibly hard in comparison to just throwing yourself into it.

i'm in ap french now, it's my 6th year taking french. and i still have a lot of trouble with it. i'm sure that if i spend a long enough time in france, i'll refine my french speaking and finally understand it with no problem.

You know, I use to speak fluent Tagalogg and Vasayan when I was 2 to 5 years old...I can only understand a little bit of it now...sigh, i need to move to daly city or san francisco and take some classes :] that way I can talk to my relitives on the islands! (also I can tell when my family is talking crap XD )

arg. i hate dumping my problems on other people. but i need to vent (like that's never the case) but i really really need some advice from someone, anyone.

1. my best friend from kentucky (let's call him E) is in love with me. he keeps saying how he needs me and that he loves me so much and all that. the thing is, after my first boyfriend (let's call him K), i don't think i can handle another long distance relationship. he even applied to a college in my state to try to be closer to me. i love him, he's been there for me for 6+ years now, but he's always been my best friend and i can't stand the distance.

2. august-september i met with this guy (he'll be R). we started hanging out a lot and i started falling in love with him. that's when i realized i had to leave K. i deserved better than a guy that called me up, threatening to kill himself if i left him and trying to work me like a horse to become some genius like him(which is exactly what K did). i was really happy with R. until as we were leaving his house to go get some sushi, i met his dad, who thought I was too young. (i'm 17, R is 21). R decided to stop things with me just because his dad said now. then a week later i found out he's still in love with his ex. not from him though, from his site. he couldn't even tell me himself. i barely seen or spoke to him in the 4 months since then. now he starts talking to me again, telling me he still has feelings for me, that he's finally straightened himself out. he wants to hang out every day, and i get that overwhelming vibe that he's trying to get back together with me. i hung out with him 2 days ago, and i found out i still have these lingering feelings for him, because when i was hanging out with him, i missed the feeling of being with him.

3. the guy i have feelings for now (A), he might be moving to florida in march. but he's not sure. we clicked pretty quick. we talk all the time, hang out when we can, always want to be with each other. and i'm trying real hard not to fall for him but i think i am anyway. i can't because he might be going away and he said that he's not sure if he's ready for a relationship cuz he just ended a 3 year thing with his ex.

so i'm best friends with E. R is my ex who's trying to get back in my life. and i'm trying not to fall in love with A, who i love being with, but have this haunting feeling that even if he doesn't move, he still wouldn't want to be with me. idk what to do! ARGGGGG!!!

am I the only one who misses "dating" like back in the 50's and stuff? cause back then it was OK to date K on tuesday...and R on Friday and then next week go out with A and it wasn't slutty...cause you were just dating...now it's like you have to be together to go out..and that is just weird...I mean think about it I think that is why there's so much teenage "hokey poky" and pregnancy and stuff...it's cause it's expected of them to only date one person...and when you spend too much time with one person one thing leads to another...so date...play the field...just make sure the all know that you're not in a "relaionship" with any of them and that you're just hanging out and having fun....

that totally reminded me of this guy that worked in this thrift store i went to.... he's in this rockabilly band and had the old 50ish hairstyle and leather jacket.

he actually complemented this jacket i put together once and i just like oh... *glances up kind of shocked and immediately stares at my shoes*

double needles are usually used for pintucking...that's where it creates a small ridge/bump thing down the length of the fabric for a textural effect since you're only using the one bobbin it pulls the two top thread together underneath. I have never tried this on the edge of fabric before..but since my serger says you can do a 3 thread "rolled hem" I think it MIGHT work...it would just kinda roll the fabric as it sewed it....but it should still finish the edges...just set your stitch lenth smaller I think...
