I sorted thru the box of baby clothes from when my lilest ds was a baby...and pulled out all the unisex small stuff...we're set...and I washed it...
I also reconned a blue and white short sleved pleated style floor length size 10 lil girls dress into a Dorathy Gale costume (over all style dress with gathered skirt) next it's on to the yarn wig

My local fabric store is closing down really soon :( I went in there today & it was barren....but it's all on sale, at least.

I can't find blue hair anywhere. I looked in three stores today for it. >.> I need it for my costume. Ok, I don't NEED it, but it would add to the effect.

My ankle hurts because I fell of of a curb in a really dumb way. I know I looked hot doing it though (not), so it's all good.

& Ikea is everywhere.

Random thoughts... Well, Austin asked me to go with him to his Orchestra tonight, and I got there, paid for the tivcket, and sat in the first open pew I could find, and before his section even got started, my mom forced me to leave, twenty minutes after I got there. Why? She didn't want to pick me up. I would have given my life to see him play his viola...

CONCLUSION: I dislike my mother, and would have KILLED to stay.

Worried about my AP Art History Test tomorrow
Just spent time writing a proto-type of my 20 min essay
But haven't figured out what to even start writing for the 5 min or 10 min essays

Dunno what to study....Except for everything
Since last test was 90% review and 10% what we were actually testing on
Probably should look at Greeks & Romans since that was the last test...

PS.
Orchestra concerts suck
I have one tomorrow....overview of my day tomorrow:
7:30 - 8:30 - Zero Bell (Orchestra before school)
8:45 - 3:38 - Real school starts and ends
3:45 - 5:30 - Urban Dance
HOME
6:45 - 9:00 - Orchestra Concert

Oh freakin joy! I get to be at school for almost 13 hours!

I have to take a road trip with my father. Someone shoot me now.

My mother has crappy communication skills. I think I inherited them.

My eye is definitely infected. I need to see a friggin opthamologist. That sucks. I had one I liked, and he even had soft, warm hands, and then we had to go and move out of the danged state he's in. GRRRRRR.

wholy crap... where do you find needles that big?.... i've been searching for GIANT circulars but no one makes em :(... and all the bigger needles top out at 14-17 inches it really limits how big u can make things. i wanna make a queen/king sized blanket but i hate peicing togeather things it always ends badly for me.

well folks it don't get more random than this.....
I had braces cause when I was a kid I had all but one adult bicuspid...I had the baby tooth for it, but no adult replacement...this means that it was surrounded by adult size molary teeth and thus a week place on my jaw...had I had some sort of injury (and I"m prone to random broken bones due to clutzy ness) my jaw would prolly have broken at the part where the baby tooth was...so the solution to this was to take it out..and the matching tooth above then with braces slide all the back molars foward to fill the gaps....thus giving me plenty of room for my wisdom teeth.. it turned out to actually be less expensive in the long run cause I would otherwise have needed a bridge or a flapper or something that requires regular maintance/replacement...plus no crowding....also I had straight teeth before...during and after...the only bummer is that (and ppl only notice this when I point it out) my teeth are now SLIGHTLY off center to the left but like just barely like an eigth of an inch or less

also I just found out that my friend is a furry

I just had a really epic dream/nap.

I seemed to be part of a cult that was a mixture of my film class and my friends foods class...we all liked to hang around outside on large patches of mulch, and when we'd go inside, there'd be TONS of miscellaneous groups/cults (mainly composed of children with matching outfits) going up/down an enormous maze of blue stairs. We never got lost, though...
There was a group of boy scouts, in full uniform, singing Thriller, too... Me and my friend were talking, decided we didn't like the stairs anymore despite loudly declaring that they WERE shiny and rather blue, decided to take The Slide down.
We screamed gleefully the whole way, yelling at unsuspecting children to get the hmmpf out of the way. We ended up at the bottom dogpiled, but in two pieces, but we realized we had obliterated a number of children along the way and brought them down with us. We shrugged, high fived, and went off to the labs.

No that is normal. I felt the same way a million years ago when I was in the ninth grade. I managed to be THE first chair flute player and I beat out 3 girls who had private lessons. I could never afford lesson, I just practiced a lot. During the spring concert when they were handing out awards, I did not get chosen as "most improved" which I thought I deserved since I wasn't even in the first section the year before. I was devastated. My mother thought I was being awfully self centered.

Long story short: When you work really hard on something and you don't get the recognition you think you deserve, it hurts. Just take away the fact that you did a very good job (feel proud) and that sometimes things like that are popularity contests and not necessarily judged solely on merit.

I got a nice denim shirt that actually gives me 90% of a decent Tommy Chong costume if I can't be bothered being non-risque this Halloween, since I'll be working...

And I got a really nice pair of canvas sneaker style shoes, but suede leather for a really good price, and since I just killed a pair of canvases (£6 in February) I don't mind shelling out £18 for a pair that should do me through the winter. I hear suede can get waterstained, but they're already black, and y'know... What the heck. It's like they say with white sneakers; only two kind of people buy them - people who want to show how clean they can keep them, and people who want to show how dirty they can get them. I'm definitely in the latter category.

Also, I had dinner out with some good friends, and then we had chocolate banana brownies.

WHICH I CAN'T because I have to pay for a $5000 trip to Europe (and a $500 trip to Boston and a $100 trip to DC for Orchestra, because we're "so good")

So apparently Marilyn Manson's "Mutilation is the most sincere form of flattery" is about MCR and how he thinks My Chemical Romance are pitiful and sad. I do happen to agree.
Then the MCR fans are like "F*** you Marilyn! MCR is 100% sincere and awesome! I love them!!! You suck!"

XD! I love MM even more now.

Went to Blacksburg VA today with my friend Marcie and her 2 kids and my 7 year old. The purpose of the trip was to go to the "world" market and pick up some "exotic" food. Basically it was a good excuse to get together and go someplace different. I found the most of the things I was looking for, mainly ingredients for Japanese cooking that I can't find in WV. The trip was a success even though I took a really bad road on the way there. I had a good time but we are leaving the kids home next time.

-I'm chemistry challenged

-I freaking love spats.

-I'm still mad at my friend for running away. Not she can't even vote because she's registered here & not there. But no, she won't come back because she wants to be lame. Well, I'd like to see her live out her idealistic plan of getting a well paying job & renting an apartment with one of her flighty risk buddies, all without a high school diploma. Really. I'd like to see it. (again with the lack of sympathy.)

-I still want a melty kiss.

-I've been thinking about how much I like boys, but also how much I dislike humans in general. It really hasn't been the best combination of tastes for me. This is why I don't have a boyfriend.

-This week is going to be amazing. I get to go camping with some of my favorite people.

School House Rock is a bad educational movie for children, it is very inaccurate.

"The Great American Melting Pot" suggests everyone came to the US on their own will and were welcomed with open arms. I'm not suggesting give them the gruesome details of the treatments of all different kinds of people who came here in search of hope, but don't lead them on to believe were a perfect country with no problems.

I guess I just don't support sugarcoating education. It takes a lot to suddenly make the transition from thinking the US has always been great and wonderful, to realizing how many different races have been subjected to cruelty and such. So don't lie to them in the first place, maybe it'll be easier.

It's just funny how that movie makes everything look like a joyous occasion, even the "workers" picking the cotton who happened to have really curly hair were grinning away like they've secured the greatest job ever.

Though School House Rock isn't all bad. The songs about parts of speech are good.

I prefer Conspiracy Theory Rock.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbIvPhZ3IsQ&feature=related

Here the "Great American Melting Pot" that is wrong in so many ways
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWJ4udW41Ns&feature=related

Here the "Great American Slaughterhouse" that tells it a little more accurately.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbIvPhZ3IsQ&feature=related

That being said, race doesn't matter IMO, and I hold no prejudices, but history should be told accurately and not sugarcoated. Even to little children.

Really? The only time I ever saw School House Rock in school was for the song "I'm Just a Bill"...

You reminded me of another "trend" (a human act, true, not fashion, but, still) is this weird stigma that reading is bad or weird.

I couldn't count the amount of times when I was in high school and someone would ask what I was reading... and then why. I would say, "Because I want to." and they would act all weird... "It's not for school?! Why read it then?"

Or

"You've read that book before, why are you reading it again? You already know how it ends..."
To which I would respond, "You watch the same movies more than once, don't you? You know how those end."
They would say, "Oh, but that's different!" .... Right.

I find that most people are lazy idiots who are surprised when you aren't one too.
For example, people freak out because I read books that aren't only 3 1/2 pages long. It pisses me off, whenever a teacher gives a book report, you her everybody either doing a book they've already read, or a book thats like a 100 pages. C'mon, we are in high school, books that short should not be allowed.
I find that reading takes you to a whole new world where TV and movies can't. A show is limited by a budget and availability of special effects, but their no limit on how creative an author can be.

Like me and my friend kept up with the Harry Potter series since they first came out(when we were in elementary school) and now that they are over, we know what happens. We were discussing it and someone comes up and is like "How do you guys know how it ended?! That movie hasn't came out yet!" And were like cause we actually read it instead of being lazy, then they are like they'd rather just wait until it comes out in theaters. Then they ask us to fill them in so they aren't lost...

That bunker is literally about a mile from my house. It really wasn't such a secret. I knew that it existed 20 years ago. The guy that they interviewed on the blurb on yahoo has worked at the Greenbrier hotel forever but I can garantee that he knew that the bunker was there shortly after his first day of work, everyone did.

I also know for a fact that if a nuclear war had ever happened while the bunker was supposedly such a secret, no one not even the hotel guests or staff, would have been allowed into it. Gotta love our government at work. I've lived in this area most of my life and I've never taken a tour of the bunker.

I find I agree with you completely. :)

Books are amazing, end of story. I've had people tell me they hate reading, and it always flabbergasts me (heehee flabbergast). Like, my future sister-in-law's boyfriend saw my bookcase (FULL) and said something to the effect of "Wow, have one of you read all of those?" I replied that I had, and had read all of them at least 4 times. He was shocked. And then went on to say he never reads. *facepalm*

One Christmas, my boy spent nearly $100 on books for me. :o

Hey I agree with both of you. I learned to read at age 4 and never stopped. My children are also voracious readers. Since I have gone back to school, I don't have time to read for pleasure and it is killing me.

I've had to scale down my books a few times. I have developed a system that I cannot allow my books to overflow the bookcase so I will sell them at yard sales or ebay this allows me to buy new books. That way, I purge the books that I'm not likely to reread, I save space and I get new books without having to shell out a lot of money. I hate to part with any book but if I don't, I'll be up to my eyeballs and there would be no room to walk. Speaking of....my birthday is coming up soon and I know exactly the gift that I'm buying myself. Sergie Ludenyenko "Twilight Watch". I'll have Thanksgiving break to read it.

I'm so proud of my youngest daughter she wrote out her Chistmas list and one of the things on it was "a lot of GOOD books"

I read books too quickly, and forget that I've read them, and also, I hate to read books more than once, generally.

I have no idea! I'm new to this and when I went to Walmart, I was overwelmed by the multitude of colors and such. So naturally I picked a pick thing of black yarn. It says "WORSTED - MEDIUM" Then there is a picture of a roll of yarn with a 4 on the package. It's 364 yds and 198 g.

If they yarn calls for size 4 needles and your going with 9s it might be pretty loosed, it's not a problem but if you want that tight garter stitch look you could double your yarn and knit 2 strands at once.

saintlike_ontheoutside
11-03-2008, 02:07 PM
I think it calls for size 8 needles, cause on the bottom it has little squares and a picture of knitting needles then under that it says 8 US and 5mm.

K. LOL. I just got started. I'm knitting a scarf for someone. If it turns out good, for me, if it turns out okay, for my sister, and if it turns out horrible, I'm going to scrap it and re-use the yarn.

US size 9 needles are kinda small, right?

Hmmm... Give it a few rows and see how wide it looks. It also depends on how wide a scarf she likes, and how much yarn you have.

saintlike_ontheoutside
11-03-2008, 02:33 PM
Yea, their pretty tiny. I probally shouldn't have gotten this size, but once again, I was overwhelmed and didn't know what I needed. It's lucky I picked a yarn and needle that went together.
Yea, its a good width I guess.

Coffee
11-03-2008, 02:37 PM
Give it a few more rows. Once you've got enough length that it hangs off the needle, that gives you the natural width of the thing.

But other times, it's just a matter of trial and error. I think I'll manage a bit more knitting tonight. The giant needles are tiring, but the progress is quite fast.

saintlike_ontheoutside
11-03-2008, 02:38 PM
Yea, its hanging off, its wide enough. If she unhappy, I'll keep it and knit her one in colors shhe wants.

That can happen with certain cast ons.

I use a slingshot cast on, and have to use a size larger needles because it's very tight.

I'm cookin' Chile! Unfortunately, I prefer ground beef, but we only had cubed. I also wasn't able to get red onions. But y'know, you improvise. I did manage to get some San Miguel really cheap, so it's in the pot now. Another couple hours and it'll be ready!

The Angry Hippie
11-03-2008, 03:06 PM
9s are 5.5mm... i actually consider them some of my larger needles... most of the crap i do is on 4-7s

Ya i totally agree with coffee people really don't understand how much time/work knitted things can take... a person that doesn't knit just does't get it. that's why when i'm done i like to count my rows and add up total stitched XP... the baby blankey for a friend i knitted in size 4's with sock wool took over 37,000 stitches.

so your doing a scarf 20 stitches wide... and it takes 7 rows to knit an inch... lets say you make it 4 feet long thats 6,660 stitches for that scarf.

Coffee
11-03-2008, 03:10 PM
in the UK, our old needle scale was inverted, i.e. an 8mm needle was size 0, so I assumed a size 9 was quite small...

5.5 isn't too bad, but I don't stray that far down usually. I prefer to work from around 6 or 7mm upwards.

Aww! I'm watching a show where a young guy invites a friend over for dinner with his family. The girls ends up being pregnant and the family freaks out and instantly blames the boy. Turns out that he didn't impregnante her, and is just her friend. So later on in the story, it is revealed that the girl was not sexually active, but was raped on her way home from school by a guy who was never caught. Then later on, it is also revealed that she wasn't the victim of a random rape, but instead raped by her step-dad.

I don't care what you may think of it, but you gotta see how sad this is and support abbortion for rape/incest victims.

I have to defend What not to Wear here. They usauly help out people who have no fashion seance as it is and they are usually helping them become more professional.

If you have your own style that's rad and wear it when you can but when it gets in the way of your professional career you ether need to change career or you need to change the way you look.

Knitting like anything else worth doing right takes practice. I've frogged many an item several time before I got it right. In fact the baby blanket that I'm currently working on had to be torn apart twice and it is a super easy pattern but I lost count smurfed it up. She has pics on FaceBook with just her and her sister in underwear, and it looks like they were like peeling off their underwear. Boys are like flocking to her page and telling her they wanna ... her and that they should hang out some time. Then she's pregant and her boyfriend left her.

Did I mention she's 14?! She's freaking overdeveloped. I don't know her, but my Facebook says I might know her. But it's just ridiculous, the type of pictures she has on the internet for everyone to see since her page isn't private. Pictures with just her with a really small coat on. That's unzipped and she's squeezing it together.

Um dude? Overdelevoped girls are way more common than you'd think.

Like how I had visible breasts at the tender age of 7. I am SO not kidding. I had to wear an A cup bra at 7.

Maybe you don't notice cuz you're gay and don't look at irls boobs anyway. :P

just made one of those things where you cut a circle out of a slice of bread and then put it in a pan and fry an egg on the hole in the bread.
i don't get it, whats so great about it?

we call that "egg in a nest" my kids love them....I don't actually cut a hole in the bread tho...I just make a little rip...then push the top and bottom edges to make the whole big enough..and slip in the egg....we spread home made jam on them and they gobble them up...
never thought of adding bacon.....humm....how do you get the bacon in there with the egg??

anyone have a bread maker?

I used to...it makes WAY to small a loaf for my fam...and it's a weird shape...
and it takes for EVER to make a loaf of bread
I switched to a Bosh (I think) mixer it's designed for bread makers...I can do enough dough in one time to make 6 loaves of bread...then I let it rise..like twice...divide into the loaves..let it rise again...and bake...all in all it takes about 20 min to have the dough..and depending on how warm it is like an hour before I'm ready to bake it...then it's just a matter of rotating the bread around like when you do laundry...each one doesn't take all that much time/effort on my part but it takes all dang day long cause you spend most of the time waiting.....I usually do bread and laundry on the same day....then I just walk back and forth between the laundry room and kitchen...but when I'm done the house smells all clean and bready..mmmmmm bread

Honestly, everyone knows that their are young girls out there who start sleeping around with guys at an incredibly young age. But I mean, it just shocked the hell out of me. I know she's far from being the only girl who does it, but I mean, she's 14 and her parents let her wear shirts that say, "I hate nice t*ts, don't I?"

Well, it was the guy's real name, and it was before the nation of Israel was founded.

Also, Blackbeard shot him in the leg once.

I'm watching QI.

I LOVE QI! My dad pirates it off BritNova ALL the time! That and Mock the Week, Dr. Who, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie to You, and 8 Out of 10 Cats.

But QI kicks all of their asses!

Is making bread cheaper than buying it?
Or does it just taste better.

OMG I just saw the link in your siggy to thinkB4youspeak!

That gave me a lot of really good comebacks for the "that's so gay" offenders!
