she'll be be in her carseat for a while yet since she's only 50lbs, and the shoulder strap doesn't quiet lay properly yet.

If I wait till my 7 year old Rowan reaches 80 lbs she will still be riding in a car seat in middle school. She only weighs 42 lb at the moment and eats like a bird. If I understand the law correctly is is age 8 or 80lbs.

yes but the 80lbs is the safer goal to meet. and most kids don't have the shoulder strap hit them properly or the lap belt so a booster just helps make it the safest it can be.

Just found out today that the high school band camp is going to cost about 400 bucks. Last I heard it was 250 which I thought was crazy and now they have tacked on uniform rental (which I expected), transportation fees, ect. Gahhh!!!! If they aren't willing to work with me on payments, I am going to have to make my daughter quit and I really don't want to do that. She loves band but it has become an activity that only the rich kids can join. Seriously this coming school year is going to cost about 1200 dollars over the course of the year and that is just the stuff I know about. They keep springing more on me.

Thanks George W and company for cutting funding for music in public schools. I appreciate it. God forbid they cut funding for football.

Worst decision marrying my first husband, second worse letting second husband talk me into moving back to WV.

JSedai--- fees for band can be worked off to some extent during fund raisers and I have yet to find out if I work them if it counts, but it won't cover it all. I need to come up with 400 by next Sunday and asking my mother is out of the question. I already owe her too much money and don't want to get any further in debt.Rachel's dad is useless as is her paternal grandmother and all grandfathers are out of the picture. So it is yours truly. Um, I can't date until I am sixteen, and I am fourteen and a half, and so I have to wait one and a half more years until I can date, upon which I shall start dating, hopefully find a GF, and cuddle with her frequently.

Procure means get.

I know (knew, rather) a kid that used to take Ritalin. He's a vegetable now. I don't mean comatose, he's just not "with us".

Everyday, people run around saying "oh your child has this, they need to take this and this" or "My life is so hard, I need to take this" or "If you wanna have fun, you should take some of this". What they forget is that the body does not need any type of drug.

I will agree with you that drugs are over-prescribed, and not always the correct solution. However, there are legitimate mental illness that require medication. One of the most obvious one would be schizophrenia. There are many schizophrenics who if not on their drugs need 24 hour supervision. This is a result of the chemicals in their brain being mixed up.

There are a lot of mental illnesses that should be treated with medication. If one wants to rule out antidepressants, anti psychotics, and such, then we are going to need massively large insane asylums for the people who cannot function off medication.

Yes, there are people who really need medication but ,as coffee said, it's a problem when they're being offered as a first option rather than support for other kinds of therapies.

Half (or even more) of the "patients" in mental asylums aren't even sick. People just don't want to help them out. The asylums actually turn away the people who need help because it costs more to treat them.
I'm willing to bet that half the people who's doctors say they need drugs don't need them either. Supposedly these pills are supposed to make things better, but what happens when the pills run out? Oh, that's right! You get your good ol' doc to write you another prescription, then another, and another, and another. So while your doctor and the insurance/pharmaceutical company's pockets get lined good and proper, you're no better off than a back-alley crackhead. They've set you up to spend the rest of your life popping pills like gumdrops.

Oh, and my parents won't let me date till I am sixteen.

It's a rule. It sucks.

I can't date till I'm 16 either, but it's cuz I'm Mormon.

My non-Mormon mom doesn't quite get a grasp of that. Like when she took me to EFY, "Look, hot Mormon guys! And they don't know you!"

Heh. My daughter (and sons) won't be able to date until they're 16 either, for very similar reasons. And when they do start to date it won't be going steady or whatever new term you young kids are using now (Get off my lawn!). They will date multiple people, and in groups of 4 or 6. Hopefully.

I hope.

I had a friend in high school who would only ever go out with one girl at a time, and he always seemed to find the psychotic girls... so his dating life in high school was like watching a train wreck. Not a good time.

I'm hungry.

That may be because I ate a piece of poundcake for breakfast. And two donuts while I waited for the post office to open. And some soy crisps at my desk.

Oh. Yeah, I guess eating all carbs does that to ya.

*munches on desk*

I need to start writing down everything I eat, again! I have this bad habit of "forgetting" what I eat on purpose.

And now I'm obsessed with figuring out how to make Blythe and Pullip dresses and outfits. A friend of mine may want to open an etsy shop with me. And I think this is a good way to teach myself how to understand patterns. I'm bad at it.

To get into my high school's IB program, I had to take a test in three parts, a reading comprehension, a math, and a writing test. I had to write about what I as an individual would bring to IB to make it better. I wrote a bunch of crap that sounded nothing like me.I didn't lie about any experiences that I had written about, but I sounded like a little goody-two-shoes freak.

I like the taste of metal.

& blood.

But not in a weird vampire way.

I only like it because it tastes like metal.

I don't seek it out, either. But if I ever have a cut in my mouth it's like "Oh, metal! No, wait...that's blood."

I used to suck on this one necklace I had everytime I wore it when I was a little kid.

All because I like the taste of metal.

I kind of want a tongue ring now. I've never thought about it in regards to the constant taste of metal in my mouth.

But I won't do that because those things gross me out & I don't want it for 'reasons' that people sometimes want it for.

I'm weird. Go me.

The WV state fair is going on for the next 9 days in my town which means a lot of traffic and since I work near the fairgrounds it is hard to get in and out of my office parking lot. I need to finish mowing the lawn. I started it last night but it started raining.

Have a good day everyone.

That's great Kate. I need to crank out a bunch of stuff and sell it. I have to find a way to clear some cash. My $$ situation is a bit precarious at the moment. I am hoping that things will work out by the end of September. I really should have done a yard sale today but I wasn't able to get it together. Maybe next weekend.

I'm happy that the booth went well. It is always nice when a plan comes together.

This is irrelevant to anything above but the English class that I have been whining about all summer long is finally over and I got at A. Yes ladies and gent she who hates English class got an A. I couldn't have been happier.

You never know how blind you are until you actually can see properly. Same thing with anti-depressants. I thought it was perfectly normal to think about death and imagine my own funeral. Then the magic of Prozac and Ritalin entered my life.

I got a call from a girl pal late at night. She broke up with her bf, she was crying like crazy and I had to stay up all night by the phone to comfort her.

Because of that I couldn't have any sleep, but I had the chance to witness the break of dawn. It was beautiful, and happened quickly...From ink dark to all bright, it only took a few minutes.

I managed to take some photos.

My debit card was declined for insufficient funds at the grocery store. I had for 20$ worth of food. I kept the milk which I paid with my last 5$ I had in cash. :(

I can't even make stuff and sell it on etsy, my credit cards are suspended. 3 weeks to go before internship and some sort of income...

Your first year of college is mostly general studies anyway and if you totally hate the school you chose, there is no real reason that you have to stay there. You have time to make final decisions just have things pretty well nailed down by February or March. When I was going to college the first time, I changed my major 3 times in 2 years.

Also there is nothing wrong with taking your pre-reqs at a community college and transferring to a larger school when you are sure what you want to do. That is what I should have done but didn't. 25 years later, I have gone back to school to finish what I started.

I start nursing school on Monday. I am a bit nervous. I too hope to meet boyfriend type material this year and I'm old. I'm just tired of being single.

I hurt my eye really bad on thursday and I still can't see worth crap but it is getting better. I went to the opthomologist every day for 4 days and I have to see him again on Thursday. Funny thing is, he offered me a job that I couldn't take, bummer.

I really need to get ready for work it is already 7 am and I have to leave in 30 minutes and I'm still in my jammies.

Why is it that when I hurt myself, I end up with job offers? That has happened twice. Doctors like me in their offices lets hope they like me as a nurse.

p.s. What is a Grue?

what is a grue? The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.Thank you wiki-freakin'-pedia!

I don't get it...An American can vote and join the military at 18 year-old, but is forbidden from drinking before 21.

So even you are old enough to pick the president and die for your own country, you are still not mature enough to drink?! How does that logic work?

I think it's pretty obvious no one want to oblige the under-aged drinking law. ;) But still, you can tell there is a blindspot, or an irony, in the policy. How does the government measure one's maturity? When you can vote but you are not allowed to drink...
