I've idolised Santo since before I started wrestling! One of my masks is a Santo mask!

Also, I got Stitch N Bitch Nation XD I want to make a Joey Ramone or Henry Rollins doll. Or make a Henry Rollins doll and throw it at Henry Rollins when he comes to Glasgow XD

Why doesn't Costco Canada seem to carry Santana jeans anymore? I love Santana jeans.... Nothing else seems to fit me right.

I did research and apparently Parasuco was the maker of Santana jeans. I think I saw Parasuco jeans at Costco.... Maybe I'll have to try them.

Has anybody ever worn Parasuco jeans?

Come on, Coffee and I aren't that old (or at least I'm not :) ).

Surely you've heard of Santana (Carlos Santana). Here's a link www.santana.com (http://www.santana.com). Black Magic Woman is one of their songs.

Santana! My dad has a whole CD with a gazillion songs from/by Santana, so...yeah.

At the moment, I'm really liking this one remix of Faint [Linkin Park]. I'm eating a candy cane - yum - and trying to think of what the flip to put in a zine...
Movie reviews? Nahh, my parents don't like me even to watch PG-13 movies.
Music? Eh, maybe. It's hard to put sound into paper though.
Stories/poetry? Another maybe...

Any ideas? I'd love to have at minimum a DIY related section, but I dunno where to start.

And HOLY COW, saintlike IS on a posting spree...

Just go slow and use your stitching line as a guide and you should be fine.

Maybe it's best to master the basic sewing machine first and then move on to the serger.

Using dpnds isn't quite as fast and they look scary if you've never used them before, but they're easy and quick to master.

On a brighter note, I just got back from the fabric store! Which was lined up and my kids were driving me crazy. But I still managed to find some stuff.

6 light purple buttons for a blouse I'm slowly making (50% off)
2 blue flower patches to sew on my daughter's navy blue jacket to make it look more girly (50% off)
3 spools of thread for $1
I also bought some fabric that was all from the clearance section plus an extra 50% off:
-2.5 m of Easter fabric to make my Mom a tablecloth
-2 m of a multi pink light t-shirty fabric to make nightgowns for my girls
-.2 m of trim for the nightgowns (hmm..now I'm thinking stretch lace might be nicer..)

In the end it all came to just over $11 CAD.

I had intended to buy totally different stuff, but I'll have to look for it another time.

Yes. Very annoying. You're left wondering if it looks really bad or something, but then pride takes over and you just really don't care what anybody thinks 'cause you're proud of it.

Yep... then there's the opposite. When you make something and you want to hide it in a deep dark hole and someone who manages to find it thinks its the most awesome thing in the world.

I had to go tell my new neighbors to turn down their music at 1:30 this morning... Now I'm tired and cranky.

Ah, yes. I totally feel for you, Aurora! The house across the lane from me used to be a hula studio, so the way it's built, all of the sound gets funnelled straight to my house. And worse- they insist on playing crappy reggae and rap music at high volume.

And then they get drunk and yell at eachother over the music. Or sing karaoke. Both of which are extremely unpleasant.

***EDIT*** P.S. Happy, happy, HAPPY, birthday to ladyjane!!!

Guess I'll have to get used to it. I'm still bouncing inside at the hat that I made. First thing I've made from scratch, apart from a cuff or 2. 2 of my sisters hate it, and the amount of weird looks I've had while wearing it on the way to the train station after work.... then again, it's unusual to see a hat quite like it in the middle of staid accountancy firms.

If you love it, you should totally wear it! I've worn countless things that have made people give me the "What is that?" look. But you know what? I bet Amelia Bloomer got the same look when she started wearing bloomers... but now, women wear pants all the time! Your hat could start the next social revolution!

...Okay so it's a long shot, but you get my point, right?

I don't know what 'staid' means but I believe almost anything that is neither grey or brown is unusual in any kind of accountancy... Be proud to bring life and color (even if you hat is black, which I have no idea...) in that rather conservative environment!!!

Well, the medicine is that spray stuff in a bottle. It'll numb it for awhile, but does nothing for a other symptons. I have some Tylenol, and it works good but it is night time and sends me right to bed. Then when I wake up, I feel groggy and sluggish. Plus, its only 4:00 here and I've already taken a nap. Then one day it was gone and the only evidence of it's disappearance is that my mom said she saw our cat walk in with something in her mouth that my mom figured was a (red) leaf. Yeah, but it was the fish.

I can't speak for others, but no I don't particularly like snow. It's cold and wet. It's slippery and messy. But I suppose there are quite a few winter sports that we couldn't do without it. Personally we go skating and sledding, and I used to go skiing. There's also, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, etc. Oh, and let's not forget about shoveling, warming up vehicles and scraping ice off windshields... loads of fun.

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without snow. And did I almost forget about snowmen?! Snow-forts?! You have to have warmer conditions in order to have snow that's sticky enough for building snowmen.

And ice sculptures are always nice (built by professionals).

Yeah, another confusing thing is that the needles and crochet hooks are given different numbers across the pond, and stitches have the same names but refer to different stitches! So confusing...

Coffee

The real answer is to get a needle gauge.

What's confusing for me is that over here, we use two different scales at once, both the "British" scale, where a smaller needle has a higher number, and the metric scale as well.

Confused yet?

Actually, I'd like to try traditional Scottish knitting; it's almost exactly like English, but the left needle does all of the moving, and the right needle is held in the armpit. Unfortunately (or fortunately) none of my needles are long enough to knit that way!

she said that 2 years might not be enough for me to learn how to make like a gown

To me two years seems like plenty of time to learn how to make a dress. Just for kicks browse online pattern catalogs (McCalls, Simplicity, Vogue, etc) and see if any of those dresses are like the one you want to make. Or go to the fabric store and flip through their massive paper catalogs. A pattern might be $5, especially if there's a sale (and you have plenty of time to wait for a sale) and fabric shouldn't be much more than that, either, especially if you're practicing with sale fabric, or cheap fabric. What have you got to lose?

I had never made a dress before in high school but I really wanted to make my dress for graduation so I bought fabric and a pattern and did it. Following patterns really isn't that hard.

Once you've made your practice dress you can see how it fits and what changes you want to make. Maybe you want to slim it down or make it longer or change the straps.

I believe in you! You have plenty of time to practice and we're all here to help.

kate

AND, if she's willing to pay for a professional to make it then clearly spending a little money on fabric is not the issue. Go forth and conquer!

Why don't you make a prototype of the dress out of some really cheap fabric? Then you'll know if you can make it or not.

Or just let a seamstress make it for you, and have fun making some other fabulous garment. Or make your own handbag, wrap, etc. to match the dress.

Just remember, school doesn't last forever. Once you're done you can move on to the real world where mature people will like you for who you are (and not care about how many laps you can run on the track, or how far you can jump, or whether you can hit the little birdie with your badminton racket!).

I was worried, because I thought my brother was forwarding me a real obituary via e-mail.

And it turns out to be THIS:

Subject: Sad News

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wastingmuch of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven.He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeralwas heldat 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

I told him it was funny, but kind of "yelled" at him for a moment. I seriously thought one of our classmates had died when I saw the title of the e-mail!
