for sweeter french toast, try adding coffee creamer instead of milk to the egg batter. plus a little cinnamon :) mmm!

Oh! Don't forget a little splash of vanilla extract. And it makes a world of difference if you don't use pre-sliced bread. (Seriously, the best French toast I've had, and I don't care for French toast, was using 1-inch or so thick slices of left over Italian bread from the day before.)

And if you don't want to pay full price for fancy bread, look for any 50% off day-old bread. Challah (pronounced "holla", as far as I've heard) is supposed to be a good candidate for French toast. And you could just make the egg mixture that the bread soaks in the night before so the flavors have time to develop...at least, that's what I've heard.

actually adding a tablespoon of vanilla to any sweet treat is a plus: pancakes, waffles, yep french toast, coffee, oatmeal, whipping cream, everything! :D yummers

Also instead of brown sugar I add a teaspoon of molasses per one cup of sugar; works to just add molasses to normal sugar things like sugar cookies, and cakes, makes it moist. Oh and tapioca starch gives cakes that "boxed cake" moistness.

Yeah sorry I'm a baker as well as a threadbanger so I'm right full of nifty baking tricks!

But isn't brown sugar just regular sugar with molasses in it already?

Yaay, eggy bread. Its the ONLY time I cook breakky, and serve it up with warm Golden syrup.

yep, but it the molasses adds moistness to whatever you are baking since it is part liquid, something that brown sugar doesn't do :)

What makes it really yummy is a little Grand Marnier liquour in the batter, but orange peels work just as well. :)
