Do you guys know of the meta tags on your etsy shops?
I'm not quite sure if you care how people find you through google or not, but..

Google only posts things with a meta tag of 60 characters long
Etsy adds "Handmade Clothing - [your item's title] by [your shop name]

With mine, that means my item's titles can only be 19 characters long because of the extra 41 characters etsy adds

Anyway, if you look at my shop, I've changed all my titles to accommodate that, and made sure my tags on etsy were VERY relevant

But the reason I did was because I get 15% of my views from google (interesting...)

I've figured out that even though it said I have about 500 visitors
with the bounce rate, i really only have about 150 visitors

(bounce rate means the person just goes on your site and then clicks back or something//they only stay for a sec or two)

the FAQ does a good job telling you how to do it..

it's free, google does it
it tells you where your visitors are from (how they got to your site)
so pretty much, you can see how much traffic you get
and you can figure out which of your advertising works best
also make sure you take in account the bounce rate (% of people that have clicked on your site and clicked away) = the lower the bounce rate, the better

example:
on my stats for this month, it says most of my visitors come from direct links (probably from etsy chats or forums, etc) and then it's threadbanger, so I'd probably stay on the forums more =]
but on bounce rate, my lowest is from craftster, which means more people actually stay to look on my etsy who are from craftster, so I sould try to post there more

I dunno about you guys, but I get 15% of visitors from my myspace bulletins
I only post like one a day, but it works
So I'm thinking we could have one, add a buncha people who might like handmade stuff (I have 850 friends, I could add most of em, and then some)
And then we could post one or two bulletins a day

Ex: One day could be Amie's day, so there's be a bulletin in the morning and aftertnoon for her; the next day could be Vicki's, and so on.

We have to use all these sites to our advantage, you guys!

As long as you're a member, you are required to do these tasks. If you can't complete them for reasons I don't know or wasn't posted on this thread. Then you have no valid excuse. Please be more cooperative. We would really hate to loose a member over something so simple that could have been prevented. Has anyone else been hearing, "start small" from people when you tell them about your Etsy and what you do?

I'm so sick of it, I've been doing the small thing for about six months and after defying everything that I've been told I finally have some big things lined up. Last night I went and talked to this guy who runs alot of raves, concerts, and parties here in AZ and he got me into alot of them for a vendor spot. It may have been my knowledge of my craft of just my friends giant boobs hanging out but I'm in! I'm so happy, I just had to say that and get it out of my head. Now my momma is talking to her husband about how serious I am about this stuff and he wants to give me a business loan! We're meeting with realtors tomorrow and we're going to get my tax license and a million things are happening crazy fast... I just hope against hope that this doesn't fall through, I really don't think I could got back to having a real job

etsy is deffinatly a job, if you want it to be, or it can be a hobby, it just depends on how much work you're willing to give it. Its just, the average seller is a stay-at-home mother :-/ plus, etsy isn't the best for making a living, it IS possible, just very very hard.

I'd kind of like to volunteer to type up a TBGuild Info card, like a buisness card for the guild!
In my mind i think it'd work out if i typed a rough draft, showed it to everyone to get approvals and opinions and whatnot, then we all can print them at our own homes!
I only have Word on my other computer at my dad's and i may not be there anytime soon, so i could make a template for anyone with a mac, i guess...
OH! I could use Photoshop, or maybe make it in Picnik on flickr, and we could all copy/paste it into our respective text programs :D

Thought it was high time I dropped in and cleared up the calls of concern as to where I disappeared to. I've been caught up in a big boy world forcing me to put Threadbanger on the back burner for a while. I'm still working very hard at creating a large inventory for my Etsy and brainstorming for future TBG activities however at this time I am extremely torn between my responsibilities as an adult and my creativity. I've moved 3 times in the last month, rented a studio then backed out of it, and then some. It's been crazy hectic.
