This will be only my third project and I think maybe the most difficult so far because I have to alter the pattern. I'm looking for some advice and maybe you all can help!

This is the fabric and the pattern that I plan on using for the skirt. (The denim and lace. the white is for a top but more on that in a moment...)

Anyway... My question is... since the trim is off white, anyone have advice for dying the white to match?

Also, I have a HUGE problem with zippers and I know practice makes perfect or something, but if anyone has any advice that would prevent me from having to sew them in like 18 times I would really appreciate it.

Cut a little piece of the white fabric (cut out of a seam if it's a finished item) and then brew yourself some tea (Orange Pekoe, black tea). Let your tea steep for 5 min., then put your piece of fabric in there and start timing.
Check it occasionally and compare to your off-white stuff. I can't remember if tea dries darker or lighter, but it's a very gentle and permanent way to get off-white.

For the zipper hand baste (sew) in the zipper a bit time consuming but you can see how it looks before using the machine. Beth

I think the easiest way I have ever done a zipper is to follow the instructions that come with it.

Search the threadbanger episodes. There's a good one on how to put a zipper into the seam. Placket zippers I do not <3.
