:) Today seemed to be the mother load of yard sales.

I got:

First and Second sale were a multi-family yard sale with separate tables...

First Sale:

1 small tablecloth which is stained but has purty embroidery - $1.00

Second Sale (Paid $5.00 for all):

1 small metal picture frame - $1
Partially cut rust red fabric with metallic suns and stars - $3.75
1 purple/magenta "tropical" salad plate from Target - $0.25

Third Sale (This is the same block!)

Unopened package of 1/2 inch elastic - $0.05
iron-on transfers for embroidery, etc - $0.05 (some had been used already)

Fourth Sale (A few doors down on the same block!):

1 Kwik Sew book on sewing your own lingerie, complete with uncut patterns. - $1.00

Fifth Sale and Sixth Sale was ANOTHER multi-family yard sale two blocks from our place...

Fifth Sale:

Singer Quick and Easy Sewing Projects...

...including how to make a jacket from a blanket, A straight skirt with no pattern, and a bitty teddy bear. Some were lame, some were really cute. - $1.00

Sixth Sale:

1 Set of Liberty of London bedsheets and pillowcases for a full sized bed. HELLO!!! I nearly fell over when the lady told me it was real Liberty of London. Their fabric is expensive over in the UK, and the prices are crazier here b/c it's an import item. They're well-loved and a teeny bit faded, but I think they can be used for skirts and a dress. If I can find something with the pattern I'll post it. It's cream/mauve-purple/bits of turquoise, with both a houndstooth pattern and a huge paisley border pattern- $2.00.

OK if I did the math correctly and didn't forget about anything (I was starting to get a bit giddy around the time I got the embroidery transfers), I spent a grand total of $10.10.

Wow! It's hard to drag the boys through yard sales without them knocking everything over, but the last one I went to I got a bread machine (I LOVE making my own bread!) and a camping hammock. :)

Awww, lucky!! I had to work, and on my way drove by so many garage sales...but I was going to be late so couldn't stop!

*envy*

You got some good scores! So many all together too, that rocks.
The last one I went to I got one of those big boards that they use for sewing (no idea what they are called, but they fold up and have lines all over them, and you can pin fabric and patterns out on them....) Also a huge self-healing cutting mat and a a whole bunch of random fabrics ...oh and a box of sea glass too, and in the bottom I found an old sterling silver thimble and a roll of pennies, all for $3. I was so happy!

*wishes there was another of those sales right now*

:)

All of that stuff sounds so great, Kate and Grey Squirrel!

I checked the tag on the one sheet yesterday, it says "Liberty of London MARTEX 1986." And the pattern's more interesting than I'd thought. The "body" of the sheet is this faint gingham (not houndstooth) pattern in kind of rust/cream/mauve, with a little line of rust flowers and dots. And the pillowcases are so becoming a skirt. Maybe I should try to do a tute with that.

But now I have to wash all this stuff. :( Someone needs to invent self-washing fabric.

Oh, wait for my tutorial on sewing with zippers before making that skirt!! That way you can sew a zipper in there!

OK, Kate, I'll hold off till the zipper tute!

And, found out they were "Made in America" sheets. I think it's a Liberty of London pattern, but the sheets were made here. I'm still happy, tho!
