I have several pairs of Chuck Taylors that no longer fit me and they all still have plenty of life left in them. I've had no luck selling them, so I thought I'd see what I could do to make them wearable. They're women's 8s, and I wear a size 9 now, so they're too snug around the toes.

I think I'll cut off the rubber toes (but I LOVE the toes on Cons! so it'll be a bit heart breaking =( and I'll need to buy shoe goo (I hope they have it at my local hardware store)) so they fit better...

I cut off the tongues to start with

Lacing possibilities?

I'm afraid of them being too floppy if I cut off the toe, it would be cool to have DIY Converse sandals though... Any thoughts?

If you cut off the toe, the binding on the sides will become loose, Why not get a really old unwearable pair off a friend and disect them first to see whats on the inside? and to see if the sole will come away from the shoe when not reinforced by the the binding..

Great recycling project! Maybe you could cut off the heal and make a closed toe sandal instead, thus preserving the awesomeness of the toes.

Second. :D

My thought was using black elastic, barred. You'd have to hand stitch it down, I think, but it'd work.

As for the toe part, just get a really sharp razor blade and slice away. That rubber gets cut super easy, actually...
